This is my first DVNR... I know this could spark some debate... and having not ridden much in DV proper.... big bike or small bike for DVNR??

Welcome. Generally a small bike with a large gas tank is best. But what do I know: I have a mid-sized bike with a small tank. Just stay tuned. There will lots of posts with useful info and many opinions.

One piece of advice to start with: if you are tent camping, bring 10" tent nails to hold it down.

Yup, small bike imo. Take advantage of DV and the vast experience of the other riders. Btw, do the Saline Valley Warm Springs ride.

Same setup as last year. I'll have AT LEAST Cootz in the garage. Most likely more (had 7 on site last year :dunno)
Also have the table too if needed.

At this point, IN. Riding in and tenting it. I too would like shade. Very soft ground with no rocks too, if they have it. BTW, what time is breakfast served?

Maybe, not sure yet. I am still bummed about this year, but the weather would've ruined it anyhow. Definitely want to do the Saline Valley campout next year.

Count me in lads. One tent site! +2 guests. Is that all I need to say? I didn't really see any directions on how to register or whatnot.

This is finally one week early. I’m in, first time. Would like to find a group to tag along with both for camping and riding. Also interested in the pre-noob hot spring camping.

One full size Chevy Express van, sleeping in van. Bike is Husky FE501S

I would be happy to camp with you. This'll be my first rally as well. I might bring 1-2 other first timers, and I'm sure we could make our own little circus of failure... I mean fun. Unfortunately it looks like you're from CA so we can't joint road trip it, but I'm a straggler open to taking in a fellow straggler once we get there.

peeps, specially if you're new to DV or a noob rider - please provide short intro, that way peeps can help you or point you to the right direction.

also good if you provide your accommodation need, tent camping, RV, in the van, on the truck bed, cabin or motel. this way we get an idea how you're going to show up. of course, we all love to hear what bike you're riding.

    thanks.

motel, cabin and rv reservations for wednesday - you will need a code. tuesday and earlier, no code needed.

i will have to confer with ersin how we would do this. core volunteers get priority as posted earlier. can't have an RV spot if solo, unless there's one available.

Ok so following up on my previous post:

I am a 5 year Las Vegas native (grew up in Washington). I took up dirt biking in March of this year with the purchase of a YZ250. Loved it. Got a street bike, but shortly after traded it in for a dual sport so I can do this sort of thing.

I will be looking for a tent spot for me and perhaps two guests. If I'm alone I'll be coming on my DR650, if the guests end up coming, they'll be on a dr200 and crf250l. This would be a first rally for all of us. We might go in my suburban with bike trailer if the other two want that, but would still stay in a tent. Do I need to reserve myself or do you event savvy folks handle that part? I can work with either.

tent camping or staying in the campground will have no problem. we always have plenty of camp space. if you and your friends want to stay on the same camp site, that can be arranged. we normally put at least 3 peeps per site. bigger sites can accommodate more. we also have the group site, good for 25 tent campers.

registration is on-line @ basecamp4adv.com, once we get it updated, i'll post it up - very likely at the start of 2018. between now and then, it's all dibs and written on sand.
