Scrapheap returns for our ninth year – this year will be one of our longest rides yet!

Our destination this year is Pooncarie, South Western NSW, where we will be camping on the weekend of October 5th - 7th.

The Adventure Moto Ride will be a 3 day ride departing Wisemans Ferry on Wednesday Morning October 3. More details and the route will be confirmed shortly. Catering packages and accommodation options info will be provided shortly.

We are planning a great loop ride for the Saturday, plenty of fun and entertainment, music, the Scrapheap Dinner, a celebratory dinner, awards ceremony and plenty of yarns from the ride!

Pooncarie community has some local attractions for you to explore and is located 150km north of Mildura.

Ive looked it up. A mere 2508 kms and 26 hours from here to there. In seriousness, while id love to go i just won't have the time....this year. I have my eye firmly on scrapheap 10 wherever it may be. Heck i might even build another Ducati dirtbike in honour of the occasion! Its a great charity and fund raiser made possible by a lot of dedicated people. I hope everyone has a great time at this one!

My brother in law who is a widower, is getting married to my cousin on the 6th in Adelaide and my sister turns 60 the following day. If the captains of industry do not cock that up that will be my weekend. anyone in southern NSW or Victoria wanting parts for scrappers give me a hoy as I have a varied collection of scrappable items,

If it takes the rattle out of it? It has some serious racing piston to bore clearance.

Hey scrappers, I hope you don't mind me introducing myself here?

I'm bobthetomato from Canberra and I picked up a 1986 DR600 last August with the intent of doing this year's SAR. I wanted to get back on a bike, get a project to tinker on in the shed, and go on an adventure with my best mate from kindergarten who I don't see too often.

The DR isn't a scrapper by some of your standards, but I wanted something relatively "ride away". So far I haven't left the shed!!

My best mate didn't need much convincing as he hadn't ridden in a while either and one of his younger brothers has Down Syndrome, so the cause is close to his heart. We found him a Husqvana TE410, and now with the destination announced the real work and planning shall begin!

Sorry for the long post. Here's a picture of my bike, and I'll see you on the road to Pooncarie!

nine years lurking....close to a record? Welcome to the Scrapheap asylum!

I've a nephew in Canberra who has been on a SAR before, he is likely to go again this year, if he's up for it, I'll put him in touch with you. He's a gun auto elec.
