Some may be aware that last Oct a few of us raced our 990's against the small bikes at the 24hrs of Starvation Ridge.

I know there are some others on the west coast who ride the wheels off of their 990's. and other ADV Bikes

This year there is an Adventure Bike class. We would love to see a few more teams join in on the fun during the largest 24 race in the nation.

The race is held in late OCT in south eastern Wa
Teams can be up to 6 riders with individual bikes.

    Any interest from the OC?

You guys able to share pit, lap, tire, and suspension strategies to prospective teams that may join you? Basically some of what you learned out there in order to survive such a task as many have ridden their big bikes a lot, but I suspect few have ridden the big bikes that much that hard in 24hrs. Looks like a blast.

Thanks for the head up on the race.
I remember the report from last years race, I was stoked to hear about guys charging large on the 9x0's and even more stoked that it's possible I can race it this year! My bike and I are healed(ish) from a combo of Baja and OTL so if there's anyone else interested in the San Diego are shoot me a PM.
The course and terrain are foreign to me, but I've visited my Old Man who has a place on about an hour and half from Goldendale and from the rides we've taken on Harleys the hills and valleys in the area looked prime to ride. (think Beaumont with Stonehenge)

I'd love to come out and race but that's a bit far from GA. :)

for those in the South East who want to try their hand at a race, Highland Park has two hare scramble races coming up with an ADV class, 650+cc bikes. I've done it twice and it's an absolute blast. They have one Sept 7th (I will miss) and one Oct 26th which I will be there. I'll create a separate thread soon but just throwing it out there for anyone that can't make the trip west...

Here's their race report from last year:

We go to Baja in October but the dates aren't set yet. Let me talk to the boys and see if we can make it.

This year won't work for me because of lack of time and skill. Odessa kicked my ass this year, but also gave me an appetite for racing, so I'll keep training and will try to put something together for 2015!

haven't been successful getting folks together… :cry its a 1,500 mile one way trip for me and at this point would need to do an ironman pit crewless with a mongrel super plush/racetech suspension and stock headlight (unless I use my Marathon Rally Raid HIDs… think that fairing would block too much vision though)… if only I could find a suspension and lighting sponsor ... looking like next year for me. :fpalm

What is the course like? Right now I live across the pond in Japan but if luck favors me I'll be WA sometime in the fall of 2015. Granted I don't have a whole lotta off road experience with my 990 (it was my only means of transport so I didn't want to break it) but I'm thinking of finally riding the bike the way I intended to once I return stateside and buy myself a commuter car (the cost of TKC 80s per month would probably exceed my car payment if I rode to work on it :deal).

That was the problem with us heading to the 24 hr at Perry Mountain, just a long way to go and a short time to get there:lol3
If someone was nuts enough to Iron man this race on a big bike we would make sure they had the support they needed

Look us up when you get in town.
The course itself isn't to bad, its very fast in some sections, extremely rocky in others and chopped up like crazy in others, then there is my favorite sections, freshly mowed grass, Too much fun on a open class bike!!!!
Few real jumps, nothing really over 4 ft high.
However, if it rains it turns into a almost impassable course with very few finishers in any class. That's happened twice in the last 4 years.
If it rains us guys on the ADV bikes are screwed in a big way.

OK, I want in. Anyone have an ADV bike team that needs another rider? Or are there about 4 other guys who want to join me?

Come on guys, this will be fun!!!!!
