Next week I am going to Castaic, CA. I'm gonna pick up a F650GS up at 2pm.

I have the bike for 26 hours.

Any suggestions for a great ride (dirt roads OK) and a nice place to stay?

What can I expect from the weather?

A ride up to Lake Hughes is nice. Stop at the Rock Inn for lunch and then ride out to Lancaster for the night as there are lots of places to stay, eat, etc. Make your return back down the same way to stay off the stright slab. Weather should be warm needing a jacket only. Have fun!

For some easy dirt fire roads with lots of water crossings check out Ruby/Clearwater Canyon up Lake Hughes Rd. Think it's 6N24. Will connect you to San Fransiscito Canyon (another great ride). Near there you can connect up with Drinkwater Flats although I hear much of it is closed now.

Weatherwise, it looks like mid 70's and overnight in the low 50's.

There are many easy forest route roads in the immediate area that will take you all over the angeles national forest.

Rock Inn is a good suggestion for lunch in the area and Drinkwater Flats is open although a bit of a steep access from San Francisquito Canyon.

Bouquet Canyon, San Francisquito Canyon and Lake Hughes Rd are nice paved canyon roads.

It may be early but just over the hills in the Antelope Valley is the Poppy Festival? The floor of the valley in certain areas is blanketed with poppies and the wild flowers in general are coming along nicely.

I'm in the immediate area so these places are in my backyard. If you need any more info, shoot me a pm

    Have a good stay
