It's early, but we might as well get this ball rolling now! First, a little back story for those that care, if you don't, just skip this part... While driving to a project site for work, I saw a billboard for Toys For Tots and it had a picture of a really happy looking kid getting gifts on it. I thought about how Christmas was all about giving and being like all of us here, wished there was a way to help others out while having a blast doing it. Made a call to my buddies @Doc.C and @Richard S Pelkowski and asked them what they thought about putting together an off-road Toys For Tots ride. Both of them, being pretty dedicated riders, loved the idea...and that's when the gears started turning. It was mid-November, and we wanted to get the ride together quick...and for anyone that has ever put an event together, you know how fast 4 weeks goes by! We thought we might get 30 people, but set a goal for 50. Started peddling to our riding buddies and than figured we could do something really original and open it up to everyone...even atv's, side-by-sides and 4wd trucks! On the morning of December 11th it was 18 degrees with snow in the forecast. We were worried...we figured that even with all the interest it got in two weeks previous, we might be able to hit 30 riders. Registration opened and we were absolutely blown away! With over 188 registered participants, a bunch of amazing sponsors, awesome volunteers and the good will of everyone there, we filled a 12' trailer full of toys and totally blew the mind of the Toys For Tots rep in the area. We were honored with the distinction of Rookie of the Year, although he said we donated more than any other group that year! Anyway, all that aside, it's time to get the roots planted, get this on your calendar early, and start spreading the word! Once again our host will be the Reading Anthracite Company, which has given us access to over 30,000 acres of land for the event, of which you can buy a season pass for to ride there the rest of the year as well. More details will follow, but we might as well get this thing going. For now the date will be Sunday, December 3rd with a weather delay date of Sunday, December 10th and the location will be the same place as last year: https://goo.gl/maps/hbXvcsH9EZn Link to last year's event: http://advrider.com/index.php?threa...-ride-at-reading-anthracite-12-11-16.1187508/ If you'd like to sponsor, register, volunteer, take photographs, video or anything else, please reach out top me via personal message. Until we have more details, here's some pictures from last year's event!
