BREAKING NEWS! The store at Janice is OPEN!

    IT'S BACK!

    Probably no BIGGER

More than likely, not BETTER (but we'll try!)

IT'S THE SECOND ANNUAL (DON'T) FALL RALLY!

Once again we will be at the Cypress Creek Campground. There are only 14 campsites, each will hold two tents, so come early or you may find yourself out in the woods. Fees are $7 a night which includes use of the bath house. There is no alcohol allowed within the campground!

Alcohol is allowed outside the campground. There is a large area for a group fire within stumbling... er, walking distance of the campground proper. This will be the official dinner spot on Saturday night. You may also set up your tent in this area, as long as you are a heavy sleeper :deal.

There is no electrical power at the campground. So make sure your cellphone is well charged, although I doubt there is cell service anyway.

There are a few hotels in Wiggins, MS, about 15 miles from the Cypress Creek Campground.

T-shirts! BackwoodsKLR is handling this. See post #4

    Food
Supahflid is the food man. Behind every great man is a much better woman. Thanks for stepping up Supahfamily!
Friday night we're planning on hot dogs and hamburgers so that Eatalotapeaches won't have to cook for himself.
There will be a BBQ dinner Saturday night.
Just like last year we will pass the hat to cover the cost. Any excess will be donated to ADVrider.com.
All other meals will be on your own.

    Planned Rides. See post #3

    New updates!

Some notes on fuel: Come with as full of a tank as you can. The store at Janice (less than 5 miles from the campground) is OPEN! They are fully stocked with snacks, bread, milk, buns, propane, and premium and regular gas at normal prices! They have beer too! They now accept credit cards as well. Wiggins has plenty of gas stations, but is 15 miles away.

    TO REITERATE:
    There is no power
There is VERY spotty cell coverage
    BYOB except for water
Bring cash to pay for gas (Not every little country store takes plastic)

There will be an organized dirt ride. Not full on off road mind you, but say 65% gravel roads, 26% trails and 10% paved. That's right 101%, 'cause that's how we roll!

Seriously though, this ride is doable on most any thumper and maybe a larger bike if it's dry. If it's wet, you'll want a thumper with 50/50 tires at least. Desotoroto and I rode it on a F650GS Dakar and a DRZ400 on Sept 18. Gas should not be a problem, as it's looking like no more than 70 miles between gas/food stops.

There is a lot of loose gravel and crushed limestone. Depending on what kind of rain we have in the weeks leading up to the rally, there will be a few water crossings. There will be lots of fairly steep but short hill climbs and descents. One in particular many of you will remember from last year :deal.

We will be eating lunch in New Augusta. There is a Wards (Mmmmm... Big One...:drif) and a truck stop with a diner :puke1. Be sure and pack some water and some snacks in case you get peckish.

We'd like to break this ride up into two groups if we've got a lot of folks. Departure time TBA...

    Big Bike Ride:

See post number 97 for details as they become available. So far I've heard that the ride will be similar to last year, about 80% street 20% gravel.

BTW when did you get a DRZ? you had a 'strom before right? I actually looked into getting rid of the DRZ for a strom... I tend to take long trips and the DRZ wasn't suiting me very well till I beat it in to submission... (and grew callouses on my ass... but we wont' talk about that:eek1 :lol3 )
