I ended up missing this year’s Barber Vintage Festival due to a schedule conflict with the last NEPG National Enduro in Indiana. The enduro was great, myself and 3 friends raced the entire series this year, but my street rides suffered a little with the racing commitment. Since the weather has been awesome here in the Southeast for the past few weeks, I decided to take some vacation days and take a ride through the Southern Appalachian Mountains and Foothills with a visit to the Barber Museum. My trusty street riding friend Lee and his GS were up for the ride too. I used my helmet cam some during the trip and came up a with a series of clips of our ride.
Street Ride Highlight Video - Wilkesboro NC to Barber Motorsports in AL from Brian Massengill on Vimeo.
http://www.vimeo.com/16132573 Leaving my house on Tuesday Morning: Met up with Lee at Bojangle’s (good southern breakfast): Lunch in Brevard, NC, great little sandwich shop called Julie’s: I ended up not taking a lot of photos from the road on Tuesday, the day kind of escaped us on riding National Forest Roads and were running late on getting to the Hampton Inn in Dalton, GA. On our way to Barber on Wednesday Morning: Made it to Barber and photos of notable things: After the Barber Museum, we headed East to Talledega National Forest. along the way we rode past the famous NASCAR track, Talledega Speedway. A little dusty at the end of the forest service roads in Northern Alabama. We ended up back at Dalton, GA at the edge of dark, so went back to the same Hampton Inn. Getting ready to leave out on Thursday morning going back through the GA Highlands and NC Mountains. Before going back to Wilkesboro, NC we stopped in at the Mellow Mushroom in Asheville, NC. Made it home safely and ready for the next ride.
