Alright Ladies and germs, I have arrived home safe and sound. The girl is at the shop and awaiting repairs. However, since I was the lone MoMo who rode all the fuck way out there to see this place and didnt make it I want to see what you all did and how the ride turned out.

I was up at 0430 Friday morning and departed to meet ITSATDM (and I FINALLY saw this oh so ELUSIVE TDM motorbike of his). We made our way to Hwy 108
    [IMG]
over Sonora Pass and down into East side Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Dinner at Toms place was wonderful, along the dirt riding all over the area. Bald Mountain was an interesting ride up, but with less air in the knobbies made the riding MUCH easier going down. ITSATDM was a great tour guide, and ProblemChild helped me through the sand a few times too many. Thanks buddy!

I would have liked to have taken more pics but my camera batteries died. However, I think ITSATDM and Oly have the good ones.

I want to send a HUGE MASSIVE THANK YOU to all those who got me and my girl back home. Oly, Santa, and the remaining riders whos SN's I dont recall (cause I have NO MEMORY). BOB!! I OWE YOU! THANKS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH! You went out of your way to make sure I made it home safe. YOU ROCK!

When I hear from the mechanic on what I screwed up on the bike Ill be sure to let you all know.

Now....the rest of you, montrez-moi l'argent! (Ill post my pics when my smugmug quits fucking up my internet)

Hope everyone had a good time. James, Chris, and I are leaving Wednsady morning for the Stanly Stomp in Idaho and then on to the Beartooth Beners Rally in Red Lodge MT. I will try and get some pics up before we leave.

I departed the hight desert late Saturday afternoon and I knew I was close (100 miles) when I started to see the smoke from River Rat's fire.

As with most trips for me I ended up with only a few pictures.

Nice view of the valley below (7000 feet below) from here.

My other pictures of the campground are boring. Who needs an alarm clock when you have a herd to wake you up!

:lol3 :clap :lol3 Yes.....yes it was. Good times! Thanks! Adding the licorice to it REALLLY made it nice.

ok...since Mojave GS asked; I was making my way up silver canyon and on the second water crossing I took it a little too fast, made it accross but it died on the other side. Tried turning it over (LIKE A HIGE DUMBASS) and nada. Hit the starter once more and heard a small clunk.:cry Pulled the plugs, a little water came out, but the starter did nothing. Sooo....Oly (YOU FUCKING BUDDY!!! THANKS!!!) went and got some other riders, they pushed me accross the creek and I rolled the bike down the hill. Oly towed me the rest of the way to the RailRoad museum parking lot. Oly hung out with me for a bit to keep me company. A bit later riders coming down from WMRS hung out and BS'd with me for a bit until Bob, Glen (Santa??), James, and the rest of the crew showed up and loaded my big pig in a trailer. We got to Bobs house in the Bay Area around midnight where he let me shower and crash at his place. This morning he was kind enough to drive me all the way up to santa rosa and drop me off at my mechanics shop. Capt. Huggie came out and drove me home. SOOOO many great people and kind hearts for a rider in need. You all really helped me out! Looks like my bar tab at the next event will be a bit hefty, but WHO GIVES A FUCK, you guys got me out of there and got me home! :bow :bow

SO..now I get the bike fixed. Probably a SERIOUS engine overhaul...but...I am at 84Kmiles; I guess I was about due for some work, maybe? Anyone heard anything about those Touratech clutch's? I might as well upgrade if the engine will be that torn down?

I think I was asking G-funk how many cylinders he wanted but I might have asked him about his IQ. :scratch

Glad to hear you made it home OK G-funky, and big :thumb to the ADV rescue and moto transport crew. :clap

And no I did not take pictures of my KLR towing a dead GS out of Silver Canyon. :cry

Well first off... Stonewall picked a great spot to camp. He and the crew even "broke in" the camp directress before I got there and squared away all the rates and arrangements so I could put my "pup tent" anywhere...

Nice views and a good central location...

So here is my story, I am sticking to it. Gfunk arrives at my house at a reasonable hour and we start our trek over Sonora Pass. We are Advriders so we say this to 26% grades

Here we are handling everything it has to offer.

    Conquering the Pass
    [IMG]

We arrive safely at WMRS campground at Browns Meadow. Gfunk is preparing ................dinner
    [IMG]
All the neat pictures taken Saturday, did not turn out due sand and a sticky camera shudder. This about sums up the day.

Sunday arrives, Do we take silver canyon or the long easy way? Wanting to get a picture of Gfunk mastering the canyon, I ride ahead to document the event.

He should be here any minute.

No that is not him. Thats Sean on his KTM
    [IMG]
So I wait and wait. No Gfunk. Ask a couple riders has anyone seen Gfunk.
Some report he is alive and well at the second creek crossing, he is OK, bike looks OK. Oly is with him. So I wrongly conclude they are reconsidering their options and probably will take the alternate route up.
So I decide to go on up at meet them at the site of our quest, the sheep pens

Waiting longer at WMRS. no Gfunk or Oly. Backtrack the route to the Top of Silver canyon. Stop a few riders asking about the missing pair, and put out a BOL, and then go down Wyman canyon

Arrived back at camp and no Gfunk. Now I am getting worried, only to see him arrive 15 minutes later.

    About sums up the day.

Stonewall hosted a "GS Ride" on Friday to give the big trailies an overview of the area. It was a good loop to take in the sights and loose enough in some spots to get some practice in for whatever challenges folks wanted to do on the weekend.

Also thanks to James, aka Magilla for the sweep!!

Stonewall had recommended getting an early start for getting up Silver Canyon on Sunday, so I started out from the Laws Museum at 7:00am. Apparently that was too early for most, but I decided to take advantage of the shade and cool temperatures.

I took an easy pace, figuring I would wait or turn back if there was anything I didn't feel comfortable doing alone. I stopped for lots of photos, all the while listening to hear if any other riders were catching up behind. I even picked whatever trash I spotted on the road, including a nice four inch nail like bar that might have found it's way into someones tire (did I mention I was taking my time?).

The canyon stayed in the shadows as I made through the eight water crossings. Even without much recent rain, the crossings were deeper than most of us had expected. The crossings are "ponded" a bit to cut down on the current, so even if the stream is just trickling the pond is still there where the road crosses.

As I cleared the top there was still no sign of bikes below; dust or noise. I took about an hour to reach the end of Silver Canyon Road. It really can't be done any slower unless someone is blocking the road... :lol3

Had a good time trailing along with you and ITSATDM (as well as the rest of you inmates in attendance). Too bad about the bike choking on a silver canyon martini. Now you can get that KLR you've secretly been eyeing! :evil

Man, these ladies know how to party! Who'd a thunk this "research station" was really a brothel. They even give the good tippers that nifty hat so the wifey doesn't get suspicious.

When I got to the top I was surprised that a mountain was so flat on the top.

Who'd a thunk that. Good place to build a few homes...on second thought that driveway would be a bitch to plow.
