I gave up dirt bikes almost 4 years ago, even bought a jeep, but miss the riding. So bad knees and all I'm IN.

Bad, but at least she's not being intimate with a raccoon. (raccoons are such sluts anyway)

OK so I took the bait and signed up. Never done an ADV rally before, but I have experience with trail (mostly desert) riding. So, what's the deal... show up, find a group and tag along? Do I need to know somebody or will it all be obvious when I arrive? Either way, looking forward to it!

There is usually a board with lists and paper and words and names and stuff. I don't remember how I did what I did. Met a guy who had an "easy" route. Deep gravel/sand but there was beer at the end and food so it was good.

I will be riding out that way from VA starting Oct 25th. Likely on a Huge BMW R1200GSA. Yeah I would rather have a dirt bike for this rally as well, but that 3000 mile ride on a 125cc with 100 lbs of crap would be rough ;). If there are trails where I am most likely not going to have to pick the beast up, I will plan my trip to be here.

Death Valley has a lot of gravel roads you can get around on, and/or plenty of nice hwy through the park to see the sights. There will be plenty of big BMWs there.

Thanks for joining. Should have no problem finding a ride.

In the past, we had ride leaders stepping up and posting their rides. groups are limited to 7 riders so we don't attract the FS and BLM peeps.

dick. you didn't get the hint the ride you were in was called the "character building"

plenty of dirt road from easy to mild in the desert.

come on out and discover pahrump and death valley.

I'm willing to tag along with over-sized noob bikes into Death Valley. I'm old, slow, I ride a bike that is a good half a foot too tall and prefer old wine to beer, but beer will do, older scotch is even better. Popcorn is an option and I am particular about coffee. I don't mind warm beer or cold coffee.
I take frequent "natural breaks". (That is a term from the Tour De France and Paul Sherwen.)
