Planning a trip. Any routes you'd care to share? Must do roads? I should be able to do a bit of damage in 4 days. Looking for twisties and covered bridges during the day. Coffee in the morning. Beer at night.

Not sure exactly what you are looking for, but if you search on the BMW rally back in July you should get some good ideas. There were extensive talks on scenic routes then. I do some riding in VT, but I think you are looking for more paved sections, right? At the end of my report here there is a gpx file for the Bayley-Hazen road. Unpaved, but very scenic.

What about suggestions near Stowe? My in-laws live in Underhill.

Perfect thread... I'm also planning a 3-4 day trip to VT this summer, leaving from Toronto. I'll ba watching this one closely... Myself, I'm interested in paved curvy/twisty mountain roads :) lol

Greg, would you mind sending me those 3 loops as well ? I'd greatly appreciate it. (nogalr-at-yahoo-dot-ca) - THANKS !

I posted a track in this thread last week. Mixture of dirt/pavement, mostly dirt roads and then Smuggler's Notch thrown in for good measure. There is only one kink I did not fix (go along route 12 from Worcester to Elmore, then Elmore Mtn. Rd. into Stowe).

    Enjoy.

Check out the gaps around Stowe the roads are incredible. I did a 4 day trip from NYC to VT and back and found some incredible roads both on and off. I will go back and see if I still have my GPS routes, if not I can def. give you some great dirt roads I hit.

I tent camped in Stowe at one of those big old fashioned non KOA campgrounds.
There was a creek running through the place.

me too.a couple good friends and i have planned a good ride in vermont ,june 11to the 13th or 14th.were heading out of upstate new york,[we only live about 10,15 minutes from bennington vt.]up 7 acrossed 46 ect. up to derby vt.getting a room or camping ,which ever ,then riding up to canada for a day trip[before they make it passport only]about 200 mile loop thru the fram country.more chance of see'n moose than traffic.then back to derby vt for the night, and back down rt100 or where ever we kind find a good long route home the next day.no dirt roads.not all of us are dual sporters.it'll be a sport touring trip.the more twistys the better.your more than welcome to come along.were all just your basic scooter trash.

Happy to see this thread revived. I plan on another trip this summer. I can't really remember where I went after starting this thread. I tend to get on my bike and see where the road leads me. For that reason, I like having a basic destination, but, not stuck to a certain route. June 11th I might be able to swing. sounds like a good trip, as long local beer is included at night:rofl

I'm headed to the Mt. Snow area for a COG rally. My friend and I are taking our KLRs. We have 606s on them and would like to get dirty. Any suggestions? FYI COG rally is May 31-Jun 3. Drop by there may be some beer drinking at night.
