Shnizzle doesn't drink either. I'm up in Yukon territories right now at D2D.
Why do you have to have this the same weekend as the Corey Feldman concert in Asheville? Yeah, I'm in unless work happens last minute.
How about that? My husband might be with me at the rally. I got the crazy idea to head over early in the week and go to see the wild ponies on Chincoteague Island. When I mentioned it to him, he added more places to tour and I asked if he wants to go. He doesn't want to ride. It would be a lot more time on a bike than he wants to spend. I can understand. I'm looking at nine days away from home. He'll drive a car, carrying all the camping gear and Hannah. I'll ride a bike.
So are most people arriving Thursday or Friday? I'm coming from middle Tennessee so I'll probably be riding all day Thursday rather than showing up late Friday. I'm trying to figure out logistics for my petsitter. Are people breaking camp and heading out Sunday?
Also, I'm not much of a drinker either.
That's great. Remind me to tell you about guitarhack's family trip.
Better yet, read his report:
I think we'll aim to get to Willville Thursday. I want to go to Burke ' s Garden one day, either Friday or Saturday, and Mt Airy another day.
Me either, but I keep trying. I'm persistent.
A couple years ago Lance, Wayne, and I did Mt Airy and Pilot Mt. fun day
Too bad when ya go to Burke's Garden ,I'll be at Willville ..
Burke is my back yard.. For real ..
I should be there Thursday late morning ..The cart will be opened for Thurs night .
With a limited menu ...
At some point we will need a rough head count .
For Sat night supper...
I will arrive on friday at some point. Although I will probably sleep a lot, so...
Update please if you have the time and energy. Thanks dear.
For the record I am definitely in. Arriving Thursday.
So.... The Mrs. Fearless De jour has expressed an interest on this. Is there anything i'd need to do other than show up?
Nope. Just show up and pay Will for your camping.
White Elephant beer company opened up in Mt Airy as did Creek Bottom Brewing (full food menu).
Ever ride thru Kibler Valley? (VA Rd 648) Nice little ride with some primitive camping spots along side the river at the end.
One of the nicest views in the area is Busted Rock Rd up from the valley to Meadows of Dan, it's also the road to Primland - at the gate just tell them you want to eat at the grill and they'll let you in, lower gate not staffed - ring the bell to enter. Down Squirrel Spur, left at the stop sign and follow signs to Primland. If you go down Squirrel Spur and turn left of Squirrel Creek you go to Kibler Valley.
I live in the neighborhood. Friend nearby to Willville, Meadows of Dan,has a couple of decent cabins, quite private, they rent out if anyone not up for camping.
For a nice scenic ride check out Indian Valley (SR787), if you go to Riner (eat at Buffalo & More) you can take Fairview Ch Rd to get there.
Ever visit Black Snake Meadery?
this rally sounds pretty cool
It is a very laid back gathering. No itinerary whatsoever. Last year was uncharacteristicly hot so we spent a lot of time in the shade by the creek. So far, no heatwave in the forecast for this year.
well that's my kinda rally! moving into a new house Aug 1st but if there's a 5th annual I'd love to join as I'm an expert at relaxing with no itineraries to speak of.
