i went through a lot of tires (heidenau, karoo 3, pirelli, etc), trying to figure out the best combo for 50/50.

so far, best for my riding style with ~3000 mile wear is pirelli scorp rally front and tkc80 rear. others may last longer, but these work excellent on both paved and dirt, and are very smooth. actually just mounted up another set a few hours ago. :D

For a real 50/50 tire, T63 hands down. I loves me some 908's or Michelin Deserts, but they are heavily leaning toward a 70/30 or 80/20 setup. Depending on rider skill though, a Tourance could be a 50/50 tire, lol! The T63's just wear great (5000+ miles depending on how heavy handed you are) and ride nicely on pavement compared to other knobbed tires.

I believe so. I just picked up the 990 a few weeks ago.

I had just left Pat's house (showing off the bike) before he trashed his knee. I think it was out of jealousy.

Gee, I use T63's on my Yamaha 250 dual sport. I've never gotten 4k miles on the front and only about 2800 on the rear. I can't imagine using a T63 on a 500lb motorcycle. I am trying a T63 front and Michelin Desert on my 690R, but it weighs only about 300lbs. On my old 950 I liked a TKC front matched to a Super Explorer rear. If no mud is andticipated, Mefo's all around get the best mileage.
