    Actually went here today:

    Information here

Course, its not far from the house....

View on the way: park just across the water

And you can legally discharge your weapons by stopping here on the way,,

Lots of nice trails here: 1/4 mi to 10 mi

Empty now, but often deer and turkey....

    And occasionally something unexpected:

Emergency landing for this fine crop duster; struts and tail broken from a hard landing. Wings removed for hauling out.

Feels and smells like fall now that lots of leaves are down. This leads to a picnic area.

Percy Priest Lake seen through the woods.

    Another picnic area:

And, if you have a boat.....

Couchville Lake. Not directly connected to Percy Priest, but water levels go together.

Nice 2 mile paved trail around Couchville lake..

Rent or bring your own (non motorized boat) and catch some nice fish.

Winter pool now. Bridge in the distance is the trail around the lake.

I've seen deer and/or turkey most times

The park is in segments; this entrance is about a mile down the road. This is a great varied trail. Now that ticks, spiders and chiggers are asleep; time for a nice hike.

Another segment further down the road.

Mountain bike trail: I haven't ridden this one, but I bet its nice

Nice, varied trail along the lake shore.

Another boat ramp. On this side of the lake I wouldn't recommend leaving a vehicle overnight.

And while I'm out this way, the first sub $3 gas I've found in a long, long time.

Got back to the house pretty worn out from this long ride.

Not sure but this looks like an AG Cat. The guys that fly the crop dusters are a different breed. They are certainly risk takers (and less likely to get air sick). Every time I see one working, I stop and watch. They do a lot of this out along the Mississippi. A little safer there as it's flat and open. The ones I've seen working in Middle Tennessee are diving down over fence rows of trees and making sharp pull ups at the other end to avoid more trees. I fly, but not like these guys.

We have a place in Mufreesboro called Thornton's. They are opening a new station over by the hospital and the gas was at $2.87 per gallon a couple of days ago. Pretty long lines to fill up.

I really like this report as it touches on the wide variety of options people have for using Long Hunter State Park. One of the things I apprecaite about TN State parks is that there's something for everything. Fishing, hiking, biking, picnicing, etc. Many states have become so conservation oriented that their parks are hard to use. They become more something to look at than something to use.

Thanks again for a great report.

I looked all around the crop duster for a nameplate but couldn't find anything. I wasn't bold enough to climb into the cockpit and look for the manufacturer. My brother is a pilot and feels like it is an Air Tractor. No crop dusting to be done in this area, so he was either going to another area, or possibly could have been doing some photo work.

Percy Priest Lake is an interesting Corps impound. The shoreline is all natural; no lawns and boat docks like most. When you're out on the water, it is hard to imagine you are in a pretty big city. A good bit of Long Hunter is in the city limits of Nashville.

I'm assuming that there is no prize for the lowest mileage RR. 33 mi sounds kinda pathetic when you say it out loud.

    Thanks for reading!

Mother's Day and cool enough temps to test the Mother's Day gift, heated jacket liner. So, I google map the area looking for something local that would be new and I find a little green spot that is described as "Sellars Farm State Park". Now we had been out there before and it wasn't called a park. Well, there's more information now (seemed to be just an old farmplace the time before)

    Sellars Farm

A nice, pastoral, quiet place (except maybe for the dogs next door).

It is administered by Long Hunter State Park, so I guess it qualifies as part of a TN State park.
