AldnTN, thanks for putting up some great pictures of Burgess Falls and Standing Stone State Parks. You certainly picked a cool, damp time for a visit. But the amount of water going over the falls in each park was tremendous.

I've been waiting on the weather on this one. Basically an interstate romp to Monterey, then a very nice ride on hwy62. Then, one of my all-time favorite roads, hwy116 (I call it the prison road). The ride is through parts of Frozen Head SP, but the entrance to the park is off hwy62. Afterward on to Cove Lake, Norris Dam and Big Ridge State Parks. Probably camp at Big Ridge. I've been known to do this kind of thing as a day out and a day back. If I still had any mustard left on the way back, might even stop at Cumberland Mountain SP. No date set; still waiting on the weather.

Booker T. Washington was completed by me today. Due to my older brother's ancient iMac not having an SD slot pics and the report are forthcoming.

Picked up a great patch and a State Park Passport that a Ranger stamped for me. Now I have to do them all. What a great day for a ride!:clap

Monteagle in East TN later this week??? ETA - On 5/31/13 I rode through Monteagle again but did not make the time to stop. Perfect excuse for another ride east. I will post up as soon as I have something on that one.

Four of us made a quick visit to David Crockett State Park today (including an excellent lunch) on our way up the Natchez Trace.

Liberia, due to defeated plans, happenstance, good and bad luck I have visited the following:

    Frozen Head
    Cove Lake
    Norris Dam
    Big Ridge
    Panther Creek
    Indian Mountain

Right now I'm tired. I'll start writing them up in a few days. A lot of great riding; a lot of rain; some decisions on the fly. 929 mi

Liberia, just found this thread, and will be happy to do some ride reports. I currently live in Hickory, NC, just across 'the mountain' from Elizabethton and Limestone. I was born in Elizabethton, have ancestors going back to the 1780s in the Limestone area, and have some knowledge of the history which makes the local parks important.

I am familiar with the Sycamore Shoals, Davy Crockett Birthplace, and Roan Mountain parks, and will be planning to do ride reports on all three----if the rain will ever give us a break around here. It may be next spring to get all three done, but will work on it.

I also rode the Natchez Trace Parkway from Natchez to Nashville, earlier in the summer. Here's a ride report I did at the time, though it doesn't specifically focus on the Tennessee section. It's short, and not very satisfactory, but can perhaps suffice for now. http://onthelosthighway2013rides.blogspot.com/

Welcome aboard StriderJim! It would be great to have some reports from such a beautiful part of the state. We've had a lot of rain here too. And cool weather. I can't remember a milder summer. I'm actually headed to the Roane Mountain area next week but not on a bike. and thanks for the Natchez Trace report.
