Love going to surf to get away from people only to show up at the spot and 100 of your best buddies are already there. That's about as alone as you can get here unless you go south to Mexico or out into the Dez to ride.

SD has it's awesome points. Mostly how everything you could want to do is within an hour drive (mountains, ocean, dez, mexico etc...) but the crowds are really starting to get on my nerves.

It's slowly but surely becoming L.A. :nono

Sad but the smog is already here and the crowd is following. We can only hide for so long....:hide

    Day 11-12: Hell!

So day 11 was us staying at Phantom Ranch and then Day 12 came around and hell descended upon us.:hair

We wake up at 4:45 a.m. to get an early start on this hike. 9.1 miles, going up 5,000+ feet was going to be a haul. Average time to get out of the canyon is a 6-10 hour hike. Its July 24th so were right in the middle of the hottest time of the year. Joy:smile6

So we eat a quick breakfast and check in with the "sweeper" of the group who is one of the canyoneers employees. Most of our group seems to be in good shape with the exception of one lady.

Her husband brought her on this trip and she hates heights and doesn't like hiking. She's been fussing quite a bit on this trip (she was in the other boat thank god) and my wife and I were looking at each other thinking there is no way this lady is going to make it out. She's probably in her mid/late 40's and pretty large. Did not bode well for her....:eek1

Anyway off we go and it's just right, left, right, left for a long way. :cry

I'm dreading this hike as my legs are still shot from that hike we did back in Sedona and when we climbed up to the grain shafts they were hurting pretty bad and that wasn't even 1/4th of the hike we were going to do today.:huh

I had brought the ECV vests with us because I knew it was going to be very very hot once we got out of the canyon shadows and the sun started beating down on us. They went on pretty early as it was already pretty warm when we left camp.

So to make a long story short this friggen hike was BRUTAL. :knary:loco:fitz We could have taken it at a much slower pace but we just wanted to get up as fast as possible so we could get as much downtime as possible that night since we had a 400 mile day on the bike the next day (not the best planning on my part).

6.5 hours to hike out. My leg were shaking, back was locked up, huffing and puffing like a flogged horse:dhorse. My goose was cooked to say the least.

The worst part is the first 2/3rds of the hike is the "easier" part. The last 1/3rd is almost vertical (all switchbacks) and in the direct sun. Not fun

The rules of the trail are that people going up have the right of way. Our canyoneers guide warned us that most of the tourists who come down from the top do not understand this and to be careful.

That was an understatement. At first I was just moving out of peoples way on the way up. That was when I was at the 1/2 way point. As I kept going up it was getting tougher and tougher and more and more day tourists were hiking down a mile or two and then hiking back up.

So riddle me this.... If you're in a group of people, and then trail is only wide enough for 2 people to walk past eachother with a STEEP drop off always on one side or the other, why would you walk shoulder to shoulder and not move into a single file line when passing people????:baldy:baldy I couldn't believe the amount of people hiking down who expected people hiking up to move out of their way because they were too important to be bothered with walking single file down the trail. I guess their conversations were that important compared to paying attention to the trail, being courteous, and most importantly SAFE since there are no handrails and it's a loooong drop off one side of the trail.

So now I'm about 3/4ths of the way up and I'm really starting to lose patience with people not moving. My wife and I were hiking single file the entire time. By the time I passed my 30th group of people shoulder checking me and not moving I was getting pissed. I would even look up at these groups of people walking down and they would look me dead in the eye and continue to walk right at me expecting me to move off the trail so they could walk 2 or 3 wide, side by side on a 2 person wide trail.:bash

I lost it.:splat I'm trying to be cool about this but I couldn't take it anymore. We were obviously BEAT DOWN and had been hiking a long time. Sometimes it's not a good idea to poke the old cranky bull and I'm 6'7 230 lbs.

I stopped moving off the trail and just stayed my line and lowered my shoulder. Well the first group of 8 or so people came barreling down again, all side by side and not moving, and I lit them up. Sorry Charlie. This gigante gringo was done being tolerant and it was game on.

The first person I hit spun off my shoulder like a top and swung towards the steep drop. I yelled at him to pay F*(@&^+# attention and he and his buddies yelled something back but kept going down. The next group that came down did the same thing and bam another shoulder into that group.

I was not aiming at them or trying to make contact. I was pressed as far right as I could be on the trail and they were still ramming into me as they were not paying attention.

I was seriously about to start going postal :gun2 as I'm now 5+ hours into this hike, it's got to be close to 100 degrees, and I still can't see the top.

My wife is yelling at me to calm down before I hurt someone but at this point all I was seeing was red.

I think that vibe started to show in my body language because people started giving me a wider berth.

    Whatever works I guess.

We finished up the last mile of hell and finally crested the top. I think I almost cried. :lol3

If anyone is thinking of doing this rafting trip I highly advise hiking DOWN to Phantom Ranch and ride the lower half of the grand canyon (bigger and better rapids there anyway) or do the long rafting trip that does the whole canyon. Hiking up SUCKED!

Some pics of the climb: I didn't take a lot because I was just more focused on putting one foot in front of the other.

Mama at the beginning of the trail:

    <a href="<a href=" http:="" s979.photobucket.com="" user="" surfride_album="" media="" chiking_zpsce206c1c.jpg.html"="" target="_blank">[IMG]

About 2/3rds of the way up. You can see the switchbacks we've already climbed and the trail heading to the edge that drops off to the river. The tough part is just starting.... If you look at the picture above you've see a plateau way up at the top of the picture. That is the plateau about 2/3rds of the way up the picture below where the trail drops off the edge into the river/canyon part. It's a friggen haul!

    <a href="http://advrider.com/forums/<a href=" target="_blank">[IMG]

We made it!! This trail should be called Wrong Angel Trail not Bright Angel Trail. Nothing "Bright" about it. We look dead sexy with these ECV vests on.

    <a href="http://advrider.com/forums/<a href=" target="_blank">[IMG]

After that torture I had to hike another mile to go get the bike from the back country lot. Luckily it was still there and nothing seemed to be stolen.

    Whew!

<a href="http://advrider.com/forums/<a href=" target="_blank">Checked into the El Tovar Hotel for the night and started sucking down advil, water and got some food in us. I knew I was going to be in a lot of pain the next day and we had a 400 mile day ahead of us through the heat again. Bleh.....

Did have some Elk hanging out in front of the hotel though. That was cool!

    <a href="http://s979.photobucket.com/user/SURFRIDE_album/media/Elk_zps08201c00.jpg.html" target="_blank">[IMG]

I do have to mention that after we got home we called canyoneers to see if that one lady made it out and she did without a lifeline. Took her 11 hours. Props to her for making it all the way. It was probably one of the biggest things she has ever had to overcome in her life. Impressive!

P.S. The MRs had to hike a 1/2 mile after the climb to get to the hotel, had to pick up our 2 x 25 lb bags from across town, and had to get back to the hotel on the bus system. She got yelled at by the douchenozzle busdriver for some stupid chit and by the time she got back to the hotel she just plopped down on the bed and had a nice long cry.

Just one of those days where we were both beaten down and we both knew how many miles we had coming as day 12 was ending and we have only done 540 of the 6000 miles on this trip.

38% of the days have passed and we've made it 9% of the way....

Somehow this math isn't working out right....

    Day #13 - Zion

Woke up the next morning and OH MY GOD was I jacked up. Every inch of me was hurting and super tight. I'm kind of figured this would be the case but I thought I was in better shape from a lot of surfing and dirtbike riding.

    Guess not....

Even mama was hurting and she works out 5 times a week.

So we know we have a long way to go today so we try to get on it early before the heat starts kicking in again. I think we departed as the sun was coming up and we got to see a HUGE bull elk eating some grass on the way out. First time we had seen a full sized male and they were friggen huge! :eek1

Unfortunately the sun was just coming up so pictures didn't happen and I wasn't all that keen on the idea of using a flash to get the pic. Might be a bit startling for him at 5 something in the morning and getting trampled by an Elk was not on my itinerary for the day.:dllama

So off we go. Bones creaking, muscles aching and both of us on short fuses already from fatigue.

We start banging miles down the 87 trying to get to Zion. GPS is reading 400 miles so we just put our heads down and pinned it as much as possible. We had to go down that same crappy section of the 87 again so we were both LOVING the bumps, dips etc.. along the road.

Came across this "All-In-One" Shop in AZ. Need your car fixed? Need Guns or Ammo? Need to play the Lotto? Need Beer?

    Judd's has it all!

Anyhoo... Banging away and we're both getting hungry so we try to find a place to eat. First place we rolled up to was closed still but they had one interesting sign out front.

To many "Choking The Chicken" comments to be made here so fill in your own witty comment!:D

Ended up at the Galaxy Diner which had really good food:

Our GPS made many mistakes this trip but this one was a good one! Said 400 miles to Zion and it only turned out to be 220. Woot Woot!

Got to Zion and right past the gate the scenery changed dramatically.

    Our first views of Zion:

    Day #13 continued....

So we get to the Zion Lodge and as usual we are too early for the check in so we decide this would be a good time to catch up on laundry.

Cruised over to Springdale (3 miles outside of the Zion Park) and got the laundry done. I think we were down to our last pair of chonies by this point so laundry was a priority.

Springdale is a cute little town with all sorts of restaurants and things to do. We didn't stay here long as we were eager to get checked into the Zion Lodge so we could figure out what we were going to do today and the following day.

OH!!! We did eat at this place called Oscars in Springdale. OMG that had to be one of the best burgers I have ever had. HIGHLY recommend Oscars to anyone in the Zion/Springdale area.

While we were doing our thing we got to see some of the local wildlife:

    Starving Deer:

    And a Wild Turkey:

Sorry about the bad pics. Crappy/Dirty cell camera.

Not much else happened this day as we were both exhausted and getting on each others nerves. :jomomma

This was one of those times to see if "absence does make the heart grow fonder" :feelgoodand I went for a ride while mama stayed at the Lodge to relax.

    Day 14 - Zion Day 2

So we wake up on Friday and oh man are we tore up. Bones creaking and sore everywhere. This might have an effect on what we are going to do on our last day in Zion....:(:

So up we go and grab some breakfast and then what? We go over the NP map and there are some choices... The narrows, emerald pools orrrrr Angels Landing.

Narrows is a canyon with super narrow passageways and you have to swim/wade through most of the hike up stream for up to 10 miles if you want to go that far. Not steep but just upstream, in water, for most of the hike. :smile6

Emerald Pools is what it says it is and that's a nice leisurely hike for 4 or 5 miles.

Angels Landing is a strenuous vertical hike for 2.5 miles with a very sketchy assent to the summit that has 2,000 ft drops on both sides of the 3 foot wide trail. Not for the faint of heart or those scared of heights.

After a lot of back and forth with the Mrs... we decide to just start hiking North and we'd figure it out along the way.

Well I wasn't wanting to hike uphill anymore but the thoughts of beautiful views and some excitement with vertical drops I decided on Angels Landing.:clap

Another brilliant move on my part as now we'll have hiked around 2 miles up and around 20 miles in the past week. Legs were not doing so hot.

So off we went and it was a doozy of a climb. Below is the beginning of the trail and it just got more vertical from this point on. The trail was all paved until you got to the crazy stuff so at least the hike was easier without having to boulder hop etc...:clap

My arse was getting kicked badly! Legs were shaking, back was jacked etc... My wife thought this pic was funny because I was DYING!:knary

We got to the first lookout and that's where my wife called it a day. She doesn't do well with heights and when she looked up at the next portion of the climb she said "Hell No".:eek1

You hike right over that spine with drops on both sides... The "official" sign at this point said only 5 or 6 people have died climbing this trail but when I was talking to some park employees they were saying that 2 people had fallen to their deaths in the past 3 years. Considering how long this has been hiked I'm thinking the # is quite a bit higher than that.:huh

Here is some of the edges you have to walk past on the way up. 3 feet to my right is a vertical 2000 ft drop. Behind me is where the "spine" starts and then it's 2K drops on both sides of you with only a 4 foot wide walkway at some points.

Right side of the the spine as I'm heading up.

Heading up the Spine looking down at the people coming up behind me. Don't fall right!

Same thing but don't fall left this time! Notice how everyone is in the crawling position. Everyone was using a 3, or 4, point stance quite a bit. Back up that spine behind the people is where mama is waiting. You traverse that spine the whole way.

Yes I'm with Stupid... aka myself

Finally made it to the top and man what a view! It was named Angels Landing because one of the early explorers said "Only an Angel can land there". Hence the name... (pic doesn't do it justice as usual) First pic is looking to the right from the summit and the others are looking left.

Hell of a view but time to head down as mama has been waiting for an hour now.

She got to enjoy some nice views on the way down though.

Got to the bottom and by this point my body is so beat down that I start to lose it...

Had dinner and went back to the lodge and called it a day. Need some rest before we head off to our next adventure tomorrow....

Like a big, heavy POS. lol! Only reason I had apes is because I'm 6'7 and the stock bars killed my neck after 50-60 miles. With my arms up (at shoulder height) I didn't have any numbness issues or problems and I could ride for hours and hours. Handled fine for the big heavy POS it is.

I did 1,100 miles in 15.5 hours on the way back with no problems beyond what anyone would experience doing 1,100 miles in one day.

Okay, that´s fine! I had several Harleys, but I liked the FXDX with a comfort Sundowner seat the best for long distances, even better then the FLHT(stolen...) I had. Jeez, I´d wish I still had that bike today....

Day #15 - Bryce Canyon NP, Escalante Grand Staircase NP & Capitol Reef NP

Once again wake up to creaking bones, super stiff bodies and geriatric movements more suited for a 80 year old than a 38 year old.

I make a mental note to stop with the hikes as it's taking a toll on me and at this point we're 50% of the way through the trip and we've only tackled 13% of the mileage (800 of 6,000 miles). Seriously need to step it up. :lol3

Pack everything up and get ready to roll. Go to swing my leg over the bike and TTWWAAANNG goes the lower back. :fpalm Did I just throw out my back?

Yup! :baldy Should have stretched before getting rolling this morning. Make another mental note to start stretching a lot more.

No options at this point but to suck it up and pound a bunch of advil.

Pretty much every bump from the next 2 days was shooting lighting bolts up my spine. Brilliant. Oh well... roll on....:ricky

Get back on scenic highway 89 and starting peeling north until we get to the 12. Both the 89 and 12 are nice windy roads that you can put the throttle down on and fly through. Enjoyable ride with nice scenery but we were still in 90+ degree temps so we're trying to bang the miles quickly.

Roll into Bryce Canyon and this place is pretty dope. Very unique rock formation/erosion that sets up a pretty spectacular view.:thumb

There was other viewpoints and places to hike but I wanted nothing to do with that with how my back felt. Time to roll on to the next destination...

    Capitol Reef!:clap

What we didn't know was right on the 12 highway there is another National Park that you drive right through called Escalante Grand Staircase National Park.

That ended up being a nice little surprise as it was twisty roads all the way with a nice change up of white rocks and red rocks with trees too. There was a river running through here and a deep red rock canyon that campers and other people were hanging out at. Looked really pretty but we didn't have time to stop and check it out.

So far on this trip we've been dodging every monsoon and storm we come across. Somehow we just keep missing them even though they've been to our left, right, behind and in front of us. We pull into our hotels, check in and then it starts dumping. The weather gods have been smiling on us this entire trip as storms have been everywhere....:clap

Well.... eventually all good things come to an end and as you can see in this pana pic we're heading right for a doozy on the right...:eek1

I'm holding out hope that we'll somehow the road will turn once again and we'll dodge that storm but we just keep heading towards it...

And into it we went. Fully rain suited up and it was pummeling us. :dog

I guess the rain gods just wanted to let us know that they are in control for just a couple minutes because we turned a corner and BAM!

    Burr Trail Grill!!! HELL YES!!!:clap

This place is in the middle of nowhere so I was not expecting this. Apparently we weren't the only ones with this idea as there was 3 or 4 other bikes there waiting out the storm along with some cars and trucks.

Saw this on the menu and had to order it.

Hot/Good food and a dry environment makes mama a happy camper!

Food was great and the service was excellent if you ever pass this place. Highly recommended!

Waited out the storm for about an hour and then loaded back up and hit the road.

    Heading to Capitol Reef:

So more miles of twisty fun with nice scenery all along the way. Some mountain passes and some canyon rides. All and all a fun section of highway to blast down on Highway 12.

Get to Capitol Reef and pull into Fruita Campground.

It's a little oasis in the middle of this desert environment and they have a apple pie bakery and restaurant there but we got in to late to get any.

Instead we raided the orchards for apples and some not ready pears. We had some trail bars and other things to munch on and that would constitute our meal for the night.

Good day of miles and we were only staying here for one night. We took a lot of pictures but they got lost (I'll tell that story later)...

So all I have is two pics from Capitol Reef. Bummer because it was a beautiful area with huge red cliffs everywhere and canyons too.

    Day # 16 - Moab

Rolled out of the tent early and off we went. Not a super long day but still 250 miles in 95+ degree heat again. :knary At this point I'm starting to be over the desert heat and I'm ready to get up into the mountains.

Still have 3 days planned in Moab so need to shove that thought down and enjoy what the Moab area has to offer.

The drive from Capitol Reef to Moab had some scenic twisty roads. 24 highway was fun until you hit the 70. Only had to do 15 miles on I-70 until we hit highway 191. I-70 and the 191 are ZZZZZZzzzzzz......

Mama getting artsy fartsy on a break. Yes I was born ass deficient.

So we make it the 250 miles and we're in Moab. I know we are going to be at a nice resort with a fridge so we stop and get groceries. We load up since we'll be here 3 days and then we hop back on the bike.

Granted it's been a HOT 250 miles (almost 100 degrees) so we're pretty much over the bike as it's now noon and the sun is cooking.:knary

GPS takes us north out of town and we're reeling off the miles to Red Cliffs Lodge. GPS says it's another 35 miles out of town. Sounds a bit high since I think the ads said 15 miles out of town. The GPS has been off by quite a bit a few times so I don't think twice about it since it's got us to our destination every time.

Welllll..... That was error #1. So we go 35 miles and then it tacks on another 20 out of no where. I'm thinking WTH? OH well. Sucks but we'll keep banging.

    That was error #2

Get to the destination and then it magically recalibrates and now says we are 55 miles away from Red Cliffs Lodge BACK THE SAME WAY WE JUST CAME. :baldy

Nothing else to do but spin the bike around and go back.

I think at this point Mama turned the volume way down on her Sena Headset because there was more swear words coming out of my mouth than anything else

Another 110 mile detour to make our days ride 360 miles instead of 250.

Anyhoo.... Got to Red Cliffs and oh man was this just what I needed after 16 days in 95+ degree heat and this long/hot/BS day.

Beautiful scenery, winery at the resort, good food, air conditioning, Colorado river running right by and a friggen POOL!!! HOT DAMN!!! I think I just found HEAVEN!

Day #18 - Arches National Park

Got another early start to the day as we are thoroughly over this heat wave and 100 degree heat. Hitting stuff up is way better when it's only 90 degrees at 7 a.m.:lol3

Load up and make the short ride over to Arches National Park.

Beautiful park with all sorts of odd rock formations, arches and balanced rocks. :super

Mostly pics for you for today....

    Driving in:

    Balancing Rock:

Skinny Tall Rock Formations. I think this was Cathedral something or another. At this point we've seen so many tall cliffs/canyons that we are starting to get lazy on recording or remembering names of places....

Don't know what this one was called either so my wife called it Cock Rock:

We did a 4 mile round trip hike to see Landscape Arch and that was worth it. Pretty crazy formation made from wind/water erosion.

Double Arch: There was a few arches like this but the temp was over 100 again so we didn't even bother to get off the bike. Most everyone else was making the 2 mile roundtrip hike to stand in the arch or take closer pics. Kind of over it at this point....

    Some arch/cave formation thing-a-ma-bob....

At this point I'm seeing beutiful rock formations but I'm just thinking Beer and Cold Pool.

Had enough at this point and we jam back to Red Cliffs Lodge.

We spend Day #18 at red cliffs too just soaking up the AC, Pool time and a few bottles of wine from the winery on the lodges property. Had one of the best Cab's I've ever tasted there. Good stuff :D

On Day 18 I stop to fill gas I notice that my rear tire is SHOT. :scratch It had about 75% of the tread left when we departed and I figured that would have been good enough for the whole trip, especially since we're not even 1/4th of the way yet, but I guess not.

Apparently the combination of scorching hot asphalt, a heavy throttle hand and the extra weight vaporized the vast majority of my tire tread.

I have an extra set of E3's at home so I call my brother and he helps me out big time by overnighting those tires to the HD shop in Vernal. There wasn't any other HD shops around so my next destination (Mirror Lake) gets cancelled and now we'll be going on a tour of Vernal instead...

    Day # 19 Vernal to....

Got up the next day and busted 190 miles to Vernal. A fun ride through parts of colorado and then back into Utah. Crossing mountain passes and fun/fast twisty roads. We took the 128 out of Moab to the 70 to the 139.

The 139 had some fun twisty mountain passes with some good views through Northwestern Colorado. It was pretty much a fun ride for most of the way until we crossed back into Utah and then it was straight and hot again all the way to Vernal City.

Here was the highlight of Vernal....

That was it... Super fun... Or something...

Got the tires swapped in an hour and then back on the road. I was seriously OVER this friggen heat and I knew we had nothing but higher elevation mountain riding for the next 4-5 days. :d I was sooo looking forward to riding in 70-80 degree heat instead of 90-105+.

Swung out of Vernal and took the 191 North. FUN highway that went through the Flaming Gorge National Rec Area and Dam. Didn't get pics from there but it was a beautiful, mountainous highway with nice views. ELEVATION TOO so the temps cooled off a lot.:super

We're trying to make it as far as we can to our next destination but after we hit the 300 mile mark (of slow twisty roads) we needed a break and stopped at the "World Famous Saddelite Saloon" in Rock Springs Wyoming. Nice bartender lady we chatted with for an hour or so.

We were there pretty early so it wasn't exactly "hopping" in there but it was a fun bar and a little later some locals came in and another rider so we BS'ed with all of them for a bit.

Mama by this point was getting a little homesick so she had to play California Love by Tupac, Californication by the chili peppers and Going back to Cali by Biggy Smalls. Only thing she missed was Hotel California. :lol3 You can see her in the pic above laying down some homesick beats at the jukebox.

Decided that we should try to get further. Mama was down to stay in Rock Springs but I kind of wanted to get a few more miles down so off we went.

Final destination for the night? Fabulous Pinedale Wyoming! Woot woot!! 191 Highway took us all the way there.

I was kind of bummed because I really wanted to see Mirror Lake and the waterfalls there but oh well. So is life on the road and you have to adjust as you go.

I give mama credit though. 400 miles today of mostly windy/twisty roads. We were in the saddle from 6 a.m. until sometime after 8 PM. 13 hours in the saddle (hour to change tires). :super

If we had chosen to ride interstates instead of all these twisty highways we could have knocked out 800+ miles today with 13 hours of saddle time but who likes to ride interstates?

Route for the Day. Yellow is what we did. Red is what we were supposed to do. If anyone does this trip in the future the red route is probably more scenic with more things to check out and it's mostly mountain riding with cooler temps.

Slowly but surely we're working our way back to the original route! Today was Utah to Colorado back to Utah to Wyoming. Fun roads for 70% of the day!

Start heading north on the 191 again and pretty quickly we turn right on the 189 North. Just hauling along southern Wyoming enjoying the views. Weather is right around the low 80's so things are pretty damn good right now:clap

Wind is a bit rough along the way and we're doing the lean left move as we plow through the miles. I really didn't care at all though because it wasn't hot.

Get to our first break point at Jackson Hole Wyoming and decide to check out this place we've heard about called The Cowboy Saloon.

Fun place with tables and some unique bar stools. Ride em Cowgirl!

I made sure to be on good behavior here as I did not want to end up Bitch Creek without a paddle:

Met some crazy Aussies here that we're on their way to Sturgis too. They started off as a group of 6 that rented bikes in San Fran to ride to Sturgis.

Well after the first 400 miles they had many problems because they all drive on the left side of the road and some of their group was driving down off ramps on the freeway! :eek1

Not to mention one of the guys tells me he has ridden a motorcycle up and down a street ONE TIME before doing this trip.:huh

They ended up ditching 3 of the people in their group because they were going to slow or driving down the wrong side of the road and told them to just meet up with them in Sturgis...

I don't know if they made it or not because we got their phone #'s and when were at Sturgis we tried to get in touch with them but no luck.

    Hope they are alright!

Saw some nice views on the way to our destination:

And then we were there.... The Grand Tetons!

Got back on the road and banged our way to the Colter Bay Cabins and as usual we were too early so we strolled down to the lake and took some more pics... Pictures once again will never do this justice!

After an hour or two of relaxing by the lake we went back up and checked in and then went out to get some dinner....

Immediately something special caught my eye....

So of course I have to order them for the Mrs!

Called it a night and started to plan tomorrows adventure.

    To be continued....

Day #21... Fun around the Grand Tetons...

Woke up this morning and we decided on different adventures.

I wanted to ride up to this summit to get a view of the lake and mountains and she wanted to go on a hike so we went our different ways and agreed that we'd meet back up around 9:00

I busted up to summit point and the view wasn't all that great due to the trees blocking most of the views. I won't bore you with those photos but I did see a Mule Deer on the way up:

Mama had a bit more exciting of a morning as she went on a hike and almost ran into a Bear on her own. Luckily a couple coming back told her in advance so she stopped there and went right back the way she came. Can't blame her since there are Black Bears and Grizzlies here.:eek1

We got together again and commenced with the days adventure. Something I hadn't done since I was probably 10 years old:

And yes that is champagne in the bucket:clap

City slicker mama picked it up pretty quick too and away we went:

In one of the bays we got a nice treat and spotted one of our nations most iconic symbols. The Bald Eagle!

    That was pretty cool. :clap

Rowed around a bit more and the champagne was a flowing!

A little too much to say the least....:dutch
