How is your tavern sled going earwig?
You calling it finished at its current state? You have a fine machine as it stands.
There is a local man in my area who builds & tunes old british iron.
He could sort it on the engine end if it still is a sore spot there...
I am getting ready to start some tweaks on a 68 Triumph somewhat in your manner (but not copycat!).

Love this bike. I'm up in Longview and would definitely use viewing your bike as an excuse to go for a ride down south if the opportunity presents itself.
40 plus years ago, when cook neilson was still working for CYCLE magazine they did a write-up on one of the "classic"
harley XLCH sportsters......some of you may remember them; hard to start (fairbanks magneto), lousy handling, practically no brakes, about 2" inches of suspension movement. but, before the 750 honda/900 kawa, they were pretty "bad" - and with a set of straights they sounded wicked.
anyway, neilson declared that the 1968 (i think) sportster was the "perfect TT bike".
he then defined that term "tavern to tavern".
so,...is the going to be a desert sled, or a TT bike?
Well its been a day or two since your last update. Anything happening? This bike is awesome.
Trudy has had only a few changes in the last year. I finally found the right chainguard at the Clubman's swap meet in San Jose. It's a big improvement over the shameful chrome thing she was sporting before. She also received a new reg/rec and is running batteryless on a capacitor now. Other than that, only regular maintenance, plugs, oil, valve adjust, etc...
One cool note: ADV inmate knary, who is an accomplished painter, has begun a painting of Trudy that may end up as a fine art print. I'm sincerely chuffed to have an artist of his caliber consider her worthy of his talent. I don't think it's appropriate for me to post an image here, but interested parties can get a look at his work HERE.
I don't have much in the way of recent photos, but here's one that inmate Easy-Z took at a campout last month (wrong side to see the new chainguard):
I found a '63 TR6SS back in March and that has been taking up most of my time lately, so Trudy still doesn't have her skid plate. She gets ridden regularly though, in fact she's been my main bike this year, but I've stayed close to home with no long journeys lately.
I started a thread on the '63, but haven't updated that lately, either. Her name is Rosebud, and I had her running great, then completed a huge amount of restoration and customization on her. Just as I was ready to buy the insurance and license her, she started having problems. Anyway, that's another story . . . maybe I'll update that thread soon.

Thanks for bumping this up, Kev. Somehow I had missed this one.
Not much new. She's still plugging away, and ridden regularly. I spent most of my scarce free time on my '63 this winter, getting her ready for a local show.
In the meantime I've acquired a '68 T120 that's also vying for my attention, and my wife's SV650 needs some crash damage repaired . . . plus my work has been extremely busy . . . maybe I'll be able to add to this thread at some point, but don't hold your breath!
