Looking for advise for an upcoming trip. I have 7 days to ride around New England. My bike is in Pittsburgh and I have two days to go across PA and NY before meeting up with two other riders somewhere in Vermont. From there we want to do a 5 day loop around VT, NH, ME and drop the bikes in Boston. We've heard New England is beautiful in the Fall, so we want to do this trip before the end of October. Any advise on what scenic roads and towns I should go through to go across PA and NY as I head for Vermont? The twistier and more scenic the better ofcourse. All bikes are dual purpose 1200 bikes but we will be doing only pavement this time.

For the VT, NH and ME portion we intend to go up through the central areas of each state and come back down the cost to go through Bar Harbor, Portland and Portsmouth and end up in Boston. Any routes parks and towns that anybody could recommend would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help and advise.

Mohawk Trail in MA (Rte 2) to VT, then Route 30 & 100 in VT, Kancamagus Hwy in NH (112?), Mt. Washington Auto Road are some very nice rides.

Are you planning all tar or some dirt roads as well?

I don't have any particular places to advise you to visit . All I can say is just go. It's beautiful as you probably know. If you get a chance to visit Nova Scotia, do it!!! Safe travels

The initial plan was to ride all the way to Nova Scotia. We had to shorten the trip, so I'm not sure we can go out there this time, but we might leave the bikes in Boston for the winter and do Nova Scotia and other areas in Canada in the Spring.

You are absolutely right. So much to see. I just went over the whole route you traced with the help of street view googlemap. Amazing scenery and places. I think the bike will have to stay in New England through the Winter to do a 2nd leg in the spring. Simply amazing. Can't wait to get there. I start off this weekend. Thank you so much for the routes places and to do things!!!
