The new F700GS and F800GS may have a diminished fuel capacity..............
We need someone with a new bike to pop off the seat and see what's there .............
I have not paid attention to the published fuel capacity of the new models ... is it different?

Could be I guess, though on our bikes the canister does not intrude on the tank size. The R version canister is located differently and I don't know the tank size of the older US models.

Maybe all that new and improved stuff increase the mileage :rofl

    Yeah... that's the ticket ... 80mpg...

I wonder if the new GS have "adopted" the tank from the R model?
Even if true, that canister does not seem like it would displace more than a quart of fuel at the most ....

With regard to the 2013 model F800gs:
CharcoalCanister looks to be about 20 fluid ounces in volume. black plastic can, one 8mm drain port at bottom one each 6mm and 8mm top ports.
The entire motorcycle seems to have been built up around the charcoal can. It is at the approximate center point of the bike, and seems to be unremovable, although it occupies the PERFECT spot for a large canister style fuel filter.

    It is now mid-2015.

I have made 2 attempts, and failed.

Anybody figure out how to get the CHARCOAL canister OUT from the geographical center of a 2013 model F800GS ?

A thread exists here somewhere but it involved hacking it to bits with various tools. Like getting the ship back out of the bottle. :D

As the tank on my 2014 F800GS is now cracked and some point to the charcoal canister and related "pressure release valve" I have decided to remove this as soon as I am able. While I have not done this yet myself, others have said if you remove the chain from the countershaft sprocket, you can get the CC out much more easily. Supposedly it can be done without this removal but I have not tried it yet myself.
