Good question. The one above had a primitive tent section and the folks seemed friendly even delivering the firewood to the site. I can't say for sure that they are MC friendly, but saw nothing that would make me think they weren't.

The other one we stayed at was just up the road from Willville motorcycle campground at Meadows of Dan.
If your traveling alone on a bike / tenting I would say Willville is your best option, but if you happen to be in a vehicle or RV this would be a nice option. It is motorcycle friendly as she told me when they have a rally at Willville she has people that stay in the cabins at her place because they don't like to tent etc.

There are different size cabins that start at $90 a night.

I have no idea, legally speaking.
But if Pa can tow a 40' rv with triple slideouts with his '86 Toyota pickup.....
    why not?

I would say if its legal to drive it to the parkway it would be legal on the BRP.

I have passed this place many times, I finally stopped.
As I learned it is what remains of the original Mayberry USA. Very nice older woman with a store filled full of memories and good old fashioned preserves of various fruits etc. Definitely recommend stopping if you get the chance. Cheeper souvenir T shirts than the visitor centers too.

The question, "How long will it take me?" seems to come up a lot.
Perhaps the question should be is how long should it take you or how long do you want it to take you?

This July 4 trip I did in 4 days from central PA to Cherokee and back. I totaled up around 1400 miles. It was for sure enjoyable, but I wouldn't want it to be my first or only trip as there was not enough time to take much in, just ride.

Now this was not on a bike, but my wife and I did a 25th anniv trip 6 years ago on the BRP in my truck with our truck camper, we were on the parkway for 14 days, we stayed at every fed campground on the parkway and 2 that were not, I think one day we only drove 12 miles to the next one, we always had time to hike trails and see the history stops and cook a nice supper at the camper.........It was "THE" most wonderful trip we have ever taken, so relaxing not having to hurry to get somewhere.

on a bike my son and our 2 friends spent 5 days on the parkway including Shanendoah last spring and it was not enough time.

when I go back on the bike it will be for at least 10 days on the parkway alone, heck to be honest I could spend 2 weeks on the last 120 miles alone, I dearly love the high elevation sections.

I agree with your approach. As many times as I have traveled the BRP, I feel like I have just begun to explore the trails etc along it.
I know there are many cool little towns as well as roads that I haven't even touched yet.

I remember singing this song in grade school. It was my first stop at this overlook and I learned it is tied to BRP proximity history.

I've always thought it was 'Tom Dooley'. I'll have to listen closer to the words now!
