    You're unlucky.

I have on '06 SM, 20,000 miles, original fuel pump, original water pump, original clutch slave, original oil sight tube......

Spare points in the toolbag, oil and filter every 4,000, fresh clutch fluid every 4,000, coolant flush (not just change) every 8,000, plug change every 8,000.

Best bike I've ever had, and one of the most reliable.

As with my other KTMs and many we read about, if you did the known maintenance on schedule, you had little trouble with the bike. Some of the things on our LC8 are known maintenance items(waterpump shaft/seal, fuel pump, clutch slave), all of which we normally consider service items(should last the life of the bike) and this is where the loss of ownership value occurs.

It is similar to when liquid cooled four stroke MX bikes came to the market. The running gear contained in the 4st head(cams, valves, rockers), had long been considered service items, but under the stress of MXing, the same parts became known maintenance items, to the duress of their owners. Luckily LC8 issues are not as expensive as popping a new head on a 450F. :eek1

I just looked at seat pictures on KTM Twins and the 990 SMT seat isn't close to the shape of the 950 SM.

I really don't know, but I thought I once heard they fit the SM. Maybe it fits the 990 SM R and SMT?

    Here are some pics;

Yup, looks like the 950 is totally different and that seat will only fit the 990.

So, yeah. I'm in Vegas right now, partying at a radical tapas bar. Reminds me of Malaga.
Tomorrow, I meet the owner of the 950 sm I'm gonna buy. Pretty freakin psyched. Long live the fly and ride!

Check came in for damages done to stolen bike. trying to decide on trading it in on a new superduke or rc8, or keep it.

Hard call! I just came from the NYC motorcycle show. New Duke is about $17k. RC8r is $16.5. If you've got the money, they looked sweet!

Holy crap. What a superb machine! Wow.
I DEFINITELY chose the right bike. Though with the fat fueling from the factory pro jet kit, I was only seeing about 33 mpg. However, that may be because I went 90 from Vegas to Banning Ca today. Chillin at Grandma's house tonight. Tomorrow, across the LA basin to Mullholland, then up the 1!:clap

On a related note, those twin un-baffled Leo Vinces might be the best exhaust sound of any machine I've ever heard. Like if Satan was an opera singer.

No, but I couldn't say what's in there. I did the emissions removal and FMF pipes and had the dealer jet it.

Once I get it home and registered, etc, I'll address the jetting. The bike is insanely powerful, and I don't want to lose too much of that but closer to 40 mpg is achievable methinks.

You may have an exhaust leak, running way too rich or you are driving 100+ mph everywhere?

I have never gotten very good mileage but that is pretty bad.

From the local Atlanta tag game. Love this bike. I've almost finished converting all the plastics to carbon fiber. Just waiting on the headlight mask.
