    Hey Capt Ron

I couldn't wait to get out to do some exploring in Nevada - before it gets too hot. I heard stories about that RCB GS ride being one of their best. Always looking for good ride tips. The Benchmark Nevada topo map book I just picked up is excellent, with easy to visualize elevation definition and enough dirt roads to keep and advrider busy for a long time.

    Hey Captain Ron,

Were you riding a R1100GS during that RCB GS ride in 99? CJ and I laid out that ride, and we had about 6 airheads, a DR350 Suzuki and one hotdog on a R1100GS. We camped south of Bridgeport on Saturday night and then went up around Lobdell Lake to the top of Mt. Patterson. I think you were riding with your friend Eric, who was on an airhead.

As far as exploring Nevada, I've gone out to Berlin/Ichthyousaur park east of Gabbs a few times, there is some good GS riding there. The town of Ione had a neat little bar, and the campground at Berlin was nice.

Yup, that was me. The only oilhead, and the only guy in a one-piece Aerostitch on a GS ride. But a hotdog? I was thinking more of a noob.....

I sure learned a lot, though. I wanna go back to those places and see how my abilities have (hopefully) increased.

I remember that everytime I took my (soaked) leather gloves off sweat would pour out of my sleeve. Literally. :eek1

If you're Dual Sporting with an Aerostich, you can leave your stove at home! The last time I wore the Aerostich I sweat like a.... well a pig! I had droped my bike and when I went to pick it up, water poured out of the arm. I actually though I cut myself when I fell.

Yep, I know the feeling! :eek1 After the Sierra Soire trip, (which Cpt. Ron pictured above) I went out and purchased some different riding gear for dual-sporting.

Well thank you for the compliment. Now that I've got an airhead, there's no Let's-bring-a-Dakar-race-truck-to-run-the-Sheetiron-Syndrome.

Screw SNPA. Not that I don't like it, mind you. It's just that bottles break and they're heavy, and then you gotta haul them out. I can brew up 2 5-gal batches of my homebrew. And, I've made racks to carry the corny kegs. I just might need someone to carry my underwear and toothebrush. Rough roads might not be too kind to the beer or bike, however. That's a lot of weight for an airhead (especially with my lard-ass on it).

Or, have someone truck the beer in.....
