I've been reflecting on the dFR and overall I'm very happy and I think everyone had a good time.
Some people brought extra food and I bought some chicken, hot dogs, sausage, and some side dishes. We had more than enough food for everyone, every night.
The one negative was the weather. It's always a crap shoot. Last year we were wearing shorts and mesh gear, this year saw temperatures as low as 26 degrees.
I always try to schedule our rally around the other events in the area which basically leaves the last weekend in October. I may change it next year because we aren't getting any participation by the people attending the other events. (I'd be lying if I said that didn't bother me. I try to support their events but I think in the two years in Arkansas, we've had 3 Arkansas participants.)
We could move our rally up a couple of weeks and have a much better chance at milder weather. Let me know your thoughts on this.

Thanks to everyone who attended and contributed.

AS a guy that tends to make it to the DFR every other year or so, it's never been an issue of "competing with other events" for me. It's usually more of a "life gets in the way" sort of thing. In the years that I have attended, the same core crowd is usually there with another group like myself that is hit and miss. I think you should place the event on the calendar where it is most convenient for you and the core group of guys that make this happen every year. The guys that are deciding between multiple riding events in the same weekend are few and the rest of us will still make it if we can. No use in catering to a few people that still may not show up. Just my $0.02.

Now, how bout an early summer rally!!!??? I could make almost all of those!

Ther are no guarantees for weather, so have it whenever it suits your schedule....
Enjoy seeing the old faces and meeting some new riders... Great time

Im with Weave and MTNS R -- My schedule is not going to allow me to make some events.. I will show up whenever I can regardless of weather. But-- if more participants is what you want, moving back 30 days or so should do it.. I come for the company.. the riding is a bonus. I'll ride with this bunch anytime- anywhere.. Almost!! HAHA

I agree about doing it whatever week fits you best.
However, if it could be bumped to mid September or before I would have a much better chance of getting off work...

We'd have to change the name if we move it much into September. "(don't) summer rally" isn't very catchy

It's also mighty hot and muggy in those rocky bottoms and hill climbs in full gear in 100* weather in September.... lol

Hello to all from the Minnesota crew.
The DFR was everything we hoped for and more.
I would prefer to put more clothes on vs. sweat my tail off. Mid to late October is great.
Honestly, I think we will be there whenever you host.
A huge thanks to all involved, especially Dave for hosting!
More trails, more wood, more jokes, more stories (even from Perry).

In my best Jesse Ventura impersonation ....
You know, back in Minnasouda we got these guys that, you know, ride dirt bikes. They are a little, you know, crazy. But being from Minnasoooda, you know, and being an American citizen, they have the right to, you know, ride their dirt bikes how ever they want. It's still a free country, you know. At least it is in Minnieeeesooooda.

My attendance is always based on my work schedule not other ride events. I hope to make it up there at some point, whenever you decide to have it. I love riding at area.

I'm glad to hear you will come back down! I am sure most of it is due to the desire to be around the campfire with me and listen to my jokes and stoires while on the edge of your seat. I'll be thinking of some new ones for the next DFR!

And part II.... we had followed 990Trailblazer down a two track into a valley and down into a rocky river bed, right up to a locked gate...

This was us trying to get out...

That is really a technical climb, I bet it was as much fun as it was challenging.
