Well, we had a great day, cold and a bit muddy, but fun. I didn't take any pics, I didn't feel like taking off two pair of gloves...

Really enjoyed meeting/riding with George and Phil. Let's do it again soon!!

Bill, do you have anything you want to share with the group?!? :rofl

Well Dave, if you are talking about the rumor of mysterious forces that are located around Peaceful Creek that try and suck unsuspecting motorcycle riders down into a bottom less quad-mire, I can confirm that those forces do exists, and one should always take extra caution while anywhere close to this area.
Another rumor is that XR650Ls are bullet proof-maybe but just the smallest thing like a drop of water in the wrong place :clapseems to bring the beast to its knees.

I gotta brag on Bill for a minute. After going under in a creek in this mornings weather would have sent me running straight back home; Especially when we were only 30 mins into the ride.

Bill's XR isn't the only thing that's bulletproof. He is an inspiration to me, I promise you that!! :clap

    Thanks for the invite!

here, here, I have been bragging to anyone willing to listen, (not many) that I rode with a southerner who was completely underwater at 38 degrees, and he never complained once. I had to beg him to use my spare "DRY" gloves to continue on. He would rather do the day w/o gloves. Qoute... "Im Fine"

he is a trooper and a pleasure/honor to ride with him and Dave. Thanks for a good ride and thanks to Monkey Butt for pioneering the back roads...

Looks like you guys had fun. I hate I had to miss out.
My FIL passed away on 12/22 so Xmas has been a bit dark here this year and the riding I had planned had to be put on hold. Im hoping to get out Monday and wear some rubber off the knobbies.

Could someone PM me the Abbeville route that was used?

Anyone ever go to this rally up in Tellico TN? I missed it last year because of work and looks like I'm going to miss it again this year (March 21-24, 2013). Looks like it would be a good time.

Can't say that I have. But would like to go but I have way to much on my plate to even think about something like that.

This could turn into an interesting ride. Locals I believe.

Wish them the best, but I fear they may have packed a tad heavy.

    https://www.facebook.com/thirstybike/photos_stream

    From their website:
    How long is the trip?

The first trip, from Anchorage, Alaska all the way to the tip of South America, Tierra del fuego, will be almost 15,000 miles. That’s a long way! [I think they've left from Augusta instead]

    Where will you sleep?

The bikes will be pulling an aluminum camping cot that will double as a trailer for gear. We will also be meeting up with people through the Couch Surfing network for places to stay and to meet up with local artist and musicians to promote their work. And sometimes a hotel or hostel.

How fuel efficient are the hybrid bikes?

The bikes will get anywhere from 150 to 200 mpg, depending on riding conditions. That means that gas to go 1000 miles will cost around $20, based on the US national average!

How fast do the bikes go?

The bikes will be geared to cruise most efficiently at 30mph but they have the ability to go about 40mph (that range is saved for when quick maneuvers are needed)

    Won’t your butts get sore?

    Yes, very sore.

Are there really people in the world who don’t have clean water?

Nearly one billion people lack access to safe water and this leads to the 98,000 deaths a week worldwide. Check out our Clean Water Facts page for more info.
