I reread it myself. It makes me realize that it is worth it to take a lot of pix on these trips. A person forgets some of the places he's been and the things he's seen until the memories come back with the photos.

Great! I'm glad this stuff helped out yet another rider. Thanks for letting me know! Hope you have a wonderful trip!

That is one of the reasons that I do reports of my trips also. Like the CDR section I did this summer.

Love your ride reports ... The historical info makes them especially interesting to read. Probably won't get to make the same exact journey but living it through your reports....just like a good book .Thanks!

    Thanks!
As you know, those reports can be a lot of work.

Thanks. I think I've said before that I used to see things on trips that I thought were interesting but I didn't know the story about them until I got back home and looked a few things up. Now I try to find out about things ahead of time. Makes for a richer experience on the trip. Sharing the history in a ride report can be entertaining, but it also saves a lot of others from having to repeat the research themselves.

some shots from the Piasano hotel in Marfa from 2002. We split the price for one of the famous actors suite, I don't remember which one is was. We were traveling with another couple from Austin. I think it was about $100 per couple and definitely worth it.

Back when you could cross to Boquillas in a drift boat.

this guy was at the bar every time I visited Boquillas. His name was Juan Valdez.

A trip to the Hot Springs is a nice end to a day in Boquillas

I had lunch in Boquillas on 12/27. The new official crossing is pretty fancy.

I went to the Hot Springs last week. It was my first time and i was a little disappointed.
The trail was wide and well worn with tons of Turistas . The tub was full like in the above picture.
I'm glad I went to see it but I don't go to Big Bend for the Crowds ! :rofl

I recommend a dozen shots of Tequila Herradura at the Boquillas bar before the hots springs. You wont care.

It sounds like Big Bend is becoming discovered.

It is kind of interesting that BB is becoming such a popular place to ride. It's biggest draw are the people.

There are many other great places to ride that offer world class dual sport trips like Moab, Utah, Idaho, Oregon.

If I wanted an awesome dual sport ride a few miles north of the Nevada state line in Idaho on the Idaho Centennial Trail is one of my favorite.

I hear so many stories about roughing the river road, that's ok with me but I will be at the bar in Boquillas enjoying the company.

I will travel out west to ride great dual sport roads.

The purpose of this thread is to share information for people that are interested in reading about or riding in the Big Bend area. It is great that people share their experiences that compliment that goal as it makes it easier for the next rider make the most of their own trip. :D
