A fabulous opportunity arose at short notice to trailer the TDM from Adelaide to Melbourne in tin-top Pajero comfort.

First day out of Melbourne was an easy ride to San Remo (Phillip Island) via the obligatory Tooradin Pelican Cafe coffee stop for us "old boys".

A quick look-see around Phillip Island ( the race track in the distance) before delivering my famous or infamous Masterbrewer "champagne" home brew.

Have beer will travel, as the saying goes,................... I think?....hic ! hic !

The next day, Pete (Cagiva), Waggs (BMW) & myself (TDM) set off for our first important coffee stop at Yarragon

Waggs being bike mad, mainly historic like himself me thinks, had previously tackled the Finke Desert Rally several times, which I am keen to spectator some day if I can get some guys interested.

This is last years rear sprocket after a bit of chain slip me thinks.
    Still made the finish though.

The historic gold mining town of Walhalla

Land was so precious at the time that they apparantly buried their dead vertical to save space.

Entrance to the Long Tunnel Mine

    Numerous tools of trade

The Woods Point Road with Melbourne's main water source a half dry Thomson Lake in the distance

The track was reasonable apart from the occassional pot hole or two

Just when you would look up to see the sights....WHAM !

Why is it always that the smoothest part of the track was temptingly near the edge !

    Glad we didn't meet many 4 X 4's

Had a few problems with blown fuses on the Cagiva and it was looking like we would have to start sharing fuses very soon.

    A route check stop

    Crossing the Aberfeldy River.....practically dry!!

    A fork in the road!

    More to come soon

    Lake Thomson Weir

Drought conditions in Australia....a very low water level at this time of year.
    Extreme water restrictions apply.

Phew ! ! ! Did you see that monster roo back there ?

    Lake Eildon in drought

Great road from Jameison to Eildon except for the numerous close encounters with roos.

The water side, only half full...................drought

At least the Jerusalem Creek was just flowing

    Jerusalem Creek track absolutely fabulous.

More of the Jerusalem Creek Track.

    Mt Torbreck Summit

    Checking the GPS

    Mt Torbreck track

One of those bad decision moments when it gets too steep for the big bikes.

You can just see Waggs waving beyond the tree.....very steep & rough...BAD MOVE!

Once started on the track I couldn't stop until I reach the bottom due to the stones, leaves etc. Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to get back to warn the others.

The climb back out was something again

As you can see Waggs started on the right side of the track, but ended up on the left due to no fault of his own. Bouncing over rocks, ruts etc with heaps of wheel spin at every second

Glad to be out of there.

The Archeron Way was a very pleasant experience after that in deed.

Just wonderful smooth paved and dirt roads winding through lush green ferns

    Mt Donna Buang summit

Finally concluded my trip with a dash along the full length of the Grand Ridge Road (approx 100kms).

Unfortunately my true intentions were to take numerous piccies along this fabulous road, but...................... HELL ! .......................I was just having farrrrrrr ! ! too much fun racing Waggs and hadn't realised that I hadn't fulfilled my obligations to you guys
(piccy wise)......sorry !..............I suppose I'm just gonna have to ride The Grand Ridge Road again some day soon . ...................Damn ! ! !

Just to finish on, this is my friends new guard dog named "Killer" Bart

He is just learning the typical guard dog stance

Finally my TDM back in one piece, thankfully me as well.

    Cheers
