I did a little trip to Colombia in June to visit my parents. I only get to see them once a year...might as well enjoy them while they're still alive. Medellin is my native city. It has come a long way since its most infamous days. There's almost 4 million people living in the metro area. Here's a shot of what the city looks like from above: Plenty of mountains all around the city: Here's a view from my sister's condo: Medellin is a city of motorcycles. All kinds, everywhere. You find the nice streetfighters you see here: And some other ones, like this one from India: But smaller bikes are better for splitting lanes. Check out this Chinese "supermotard": Oh, and before the comment arises, that is ATGATT when you're doing urban assault at 90 degrees This was my steed while there, courtesy of my brother-in-law: Got up early in the morning as I wanted to see the city from the mountains: As I kept riding up the mountain I got a clearer view: Stopped at a country restaurant for some traditional breakfast and got to meet the owner of this house: Man, he knows something I don't about simple living. Here's to become a little like you Don Pedro!! In the middle of a switchback saw a little jeep road: It started out like this: Continued like this: And pretty soon it became a single track (though not gnarly yet) following a ridge: Here's what the mountain had to offer meanwhile: I turned around when it became a horse trail. Looking back at the road I was on before taking the detour: I took a pic of a "straighter" piece of road: Steep mountain. Narrow road considering there were public transportation buses going up this road: Headed out to the big rock in Guatape: Here's the view from the restaurant below as I didn't go up to the top: Something fresh for lunch: Here's some other pics: I'll leave you guys with a picture of a picture at the airport: Hope to document the next trip a little better.
