    Hey Ian,
If it fits your plans the Valley Beemer Crowd has a Last Camp Out in Oroville Wa. It is just below Osoyoos BC on the lake. It is always a good way to end our riding season with some good company and a wee dram if you know what I mean. Any ways, Sept 28th through Oct 1 at the Osoyoos Lake Veterans Memorial Campground. There is awesome riding all around there on both sides of the border.
Love the pictures by the way

Being that you getting around to a lot of BC's exotic real estate, and the weather is ...well being weather, and fall (haha get it "fall") is underway, I thought you might have use of the Drive BC website..it lists every road here, has dozens of live action cameras at one or more locations on all major routes, estimated ferry wait times at the salt water terminals and is linked to local weather/road conditions.

good luck on your adventure...epic in every sense...

Thanks MGV8. I talked to Air Canada Cargo today and not only are they not extending the summer programme for shipping the bike but they want it there with them the day before so that means the 29th! So my time on the Island is going to be curtailed somewhat. Hope you guys enjoy yourselves.
Thanks for the kind comments on the photos - more to come.

Suitcase - thanks for the link and the comments. I've been using it already because of the fires - very useful link. Thanks.

Are you heading home at the same time as the bike or sticking around a while?

I fly back on Oct.3rd, Bayne, so just after the bike. After three months I'd quite like to get home although I've loved every minute of being back in Canada!

So - some snaps on the run down to the ferry across to Nanaimo P1050114.JPG P1050135.JPG Thankfully all that free snow stayed high up and, in fact, this morning was quite a bit warmer which was a welcome change. Breezed into Whistler (soooo commercial) on fumes and took bloody ages to find a gas station. So much development they'll end up ruining the reason people came in the first place. Got out really quickly or at least as quickly as I could. Stopped in Squamish at the usual place. Could hear a familiar accent and spent the next hour talking to this couple (sorry, names gone!) - she was from Scotland and he was from England. They'd been out here 25 years. Both were musicians and worked at that when the opportunities arose but did lots of other stuff as well. Same issues as photographers - the technology was allowing everybody to think they were talented! P1050159.JPG Ah, the ocean again only this time the Pacific. Seems strange to say that the last time I saw salt water was the Atlantic some 9000 miles ago! P1050168.JPG This from the ferry as we left Horseshoe Bay

_1050181.JPG There are some cracking places around here and, of course real estate is expensive. P1050186.JPG _1050189.JPG Lots of nautical activity. Staying with friends, Ian and Diane, and touring around this neck of the woods (Nanaimo) - lots to see and enjoy. But off to Long Beach and Tofino tomorrow for a night so will see the real Pacific then! _1050197.JPG

That's me, standing in the Pacific at Long Beach on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Nothing between me and Japan (apart from that little island). No more road to ride westwards. But, heh!, I can still go north and south so up to Tofino and then back to Chemainus then west and south to Port Renfrew before heading into Victoria for a night. On Friday I get the ferry to Vancouver and drop the bike off with ACCargo after which I have a few days relaxing before flying on the 3rd. More photos to come but not just now!

Each photo I make is in two parts - a large RAW file and a small Black and White jpeg - the iPad I'm using cannot open the RAW files - I'll have to wait til I get back to my desktop to see if I want to print it in colour or leave it in B and W. I work, primarily, in B and W.
On this trip if I want colour immediately I make the photo with the iPad.

And some from the last few days - my friend, Ian, who came out with me to Long Beach , took the photo there, and joined me in the celebration. All round good guy who, with his wife, Diane, hosted me for a few days, showing me places I would not have found on my own. Right on their wedding anniversary weekend! Thank you both. Amazingly wonderful images - especially seeing you !! Just cannot wait to see you soon with Anne , bottle of fizz (or two) by the log burning stove, an an evening/s stretching before us to catch up on all your adventures. Safe times getting back to Galloway across the wondrous land you have travelled and the pond - see you very soon Xx
