Can anyone recommend a good mechanic here is San DIego. Tired of paying out the nose at the dealer.

    Have a 83 R100.

    Thanks in advance

I will ask my brother for you. I'll leave a voicemail but may not hear back from him until late this evening. Perhaps another inmate from your area will pipe up.

BMWMC Escondido has a good airhead mechanic, but it is a dealer and in Esco. I don't know anyone in SD that actually goes to the SD dealer.

Dave Campbell services beemers: http://www.dcmwmcservice.com/ I haven't used him for actual work, but he did the estimate on my bike after a crash and missed some important stuff.

There's a bunch of knowledgeable Airheads here that would help you do work yourself if you're so inclined....

I called my brother. He knows a shop that does race bikes only, probably not much help for an old airhead. He does all of his mechanic work himself. He thought Phil (one of his friends) might have some info on his blog here - http://motorcyclenut.wordpress.com/ ; you might be able to ask Phil. Tell Phil that Keith Puckett (my brother) recomended him.

I would love to do the work myself but dont have a garage.

BMW is having a hell of a time (apparently) trying to track down this part.
