In preparation for my summer Trans-Russia trip I rode the bike (clapped out nasty looking '87 Transalp) from my folk's house in western Germany to Tallinn in Estonia, riding through Poland, Lithuania and Latvia to Estonia. The sun shone most of the way.

    Very nice, Chris.

Would you mind to elaborate your report a bit further and share some additional details of your trip with us? I'm sure you have taken more than 13 photos... :evil

    Thanks, much appreciated.

Nice trip! Where did you cross estonian-latvian border? Looking at the gravel road on your picture, you weren't travelling on major roads.

    Hi Ela
Took a few more pictures than this, but these say most of it. Additional details: 2500km, 8 days, lots of beers, nice wine, great people en route, lots of beers, 1 litre of engine oil consumed (not bad for a 200k km engine...), sunny every day, except near Mragowo (went for a visit to the Wolfsschanze a.k.a. Hitler's Wolf's Lair in the rain), did I mention beers?

I wasn't planning on riding dirt, but suddenly there was none, for about 25km... From Rujiena/Latvia, heading north. The bike's running gear is totally shagged out and it's badly packed, but it was very straight forward and smooth, with just a little slushy mud.

Indeed. Lithuanian women are made for Triumph :D

    cheers
