I ride a KTM990Adv '2006 and my ABS cancelling switch is deteriorating. What is the wiring involved? Can I replace it with a simple switch? From this photo I see it has 4 cables. Blue, yellow, black/white, green?

Its function is push and wait 3 secs and release, to get it to sleeping mode. Then when engine is off, it resets to alert mode. Could it be reproduced with a simple on/off 2 position switch?

P.S. After I pulled it out I measured 8 cables. That is beyond my league.

Gefr, when that switch on my 07' failed. My speedo would not work. They are tied in together. I would be very surprised if it did work. The replacement part was about $25 if I remember correctly.

$64,49 for a simple switch that fails quite often. I do not like that.
I would like to find a way around. Mine is not malfunctioning yet. However there is a visible crack at the surrounding "white" hard plastic that rises concern. Water can enter creating all sorts of strange symptoms.

Ouch. As usual, my memory is crap.

If your not in a hurry. I'm removing the ABS from my bike. I have all the parts here to do it. Just short on time. I can put that switch to the side for you. It's the replacement part from about 2 years ago.

I will dive in there and try to dismount it. What would you ask for it?

Trade me something. I'm not too picky. Fuel pump, fuel filter kit either one is fine.
Not sure what the conversion is so if I'm way off please don't be insulted.

I'll most likely tear into my bike this Tuesday and can ship anytime after that.

Wife talked me into building a waterfall. Sounded easy enough :huh.
I'm a bit worn out and trying to get a ride in.
That is if my legs and back will work well enough to hold the bike up.

    Hi,

Mine failed in the same way on my 2010R, my mechanic told me he has seen a lot fail. The symptom on mine was that the indicators would come on constant (no flashing) when the ignition was off so draining the battery!

When we came to change it we found the R switch was different to the std model item (it only switches on the hazard lights on the R model as it has no ABS)

I ended up just changing it out and all is good

    cheers

The ABS cancellation switch on models 2006-2009 is replaced with a hazard alarm lights switch after 2009. Different part numbers as well. The switch looks similar though!
