Nice! I've actually been to Pie Town and Datil but didn't stop for pie - guess that means I can't join the pie thread....damn.

This day always reminds me of Normus. He was gone far too soon. Let's all celebrate this day together with some of your favorite Normus stories.

This one time, Normus and I rode our motorcycles for PIE!

    That's it.

I think Normus sold his FJR to Gravy.

This one time, I went for PIE!, and Gravy bought an FJR.

I think there was beer involved somewhere.

I'm not very good at story telling.

How about a "pie only" food truck... A pie truck.......that travels to different micro breweries to do beer/pie pairings.

They are delicious. I had one last week in fact. Better than ever. They have a storefront near the east bank campus.

Yes - they are delicious. I had a bit of a chat with the owner. A splendid chap. He went to school for a year or so at the same University I went to, so that was fun. His pasties are not exactly traditional, in that they use more and tastier ingredients and have more pizazz and wow to them. They are delicious. All hand made pastry and everything. Give 'em a try.

Just be alert for that glassy eyed look the audience gets. SOMETIMES they're just drunk, but sometimes......................

Slightly off topic, but we should attempt a food truck ride-meaty-greety sometime. Figure out where this truck is and meet up for lunch?

Tried out some PIE! at the Hi Lo Diner on Lake Street, Minneapolis.

Home made for a start - so very encouraging.

    I tried their lemon meringue.

Overall I was pleased, the crust was buttery and crumbly, the lemon filling rich and sweet but not cloying. I'm in two minds as to whether or not the filling was pre made, or from scratch. It lacked a bit of the zest that comes from fresh ingredients. The meringue was a little "loose", but overall a satisfying PIE!

Other PIE! tried by our party:

    Black Bottom Banana cream

    Mixed berry

It's a good place, and this could very well be our new late night twin cities PIE! spot.
