    Hey All,

I just published a (free) Chrome extension that, for a given thread, allows you to make it so that only the OP's posts are visible. You can get it here!

@GB just pointed out to me that this existed for the old format of ADVRider with the name "The ADV Ride Report De-crufter." If you're familiar with that, this basically does the same thing, except that you can use it from any page of any thread, and it works on Google Chrome rather than Firefox/IE.

You can toggle back and forth by clicking the extension icon, and then clicking the button that pops up.

So this is what the button looks like when the thread hasn't been toggled:

And this is what it looks like after toggling:

Here it is in action. This is the thread before it was toggled:

    And this is after:

If you toggle a thread and then leave the site, it'll be toggled when you come back to it too!

Full disclosure -- this is a very new program, and so it could very easily have problems that I haven't found yet. I'm also interested in hearing if there's other ADVRider-related utilities that people would be interested in having, so that I could do my best to add them to this extension.

P.S. If anyone's a designer and is inspired to make a better icon for this extension, be my guest. I'm very much not a designer.

Nice work! :thumb Let's get some feedback on how well this works. Lots of inmates complain about too much noise in ride reports and only want to hear what the OP has to say.. this is one good solution.

I can see that a few people are using this (6 at the moment). I'd love to get some feedback if people have any!

I will definitely take this for a spin - I used the old version quite a bit and have been frustrated that there was no replacement.
Not knowing how these extensions work myself, is there any hope that it will also clear up the mobile (iOS) version of Chrome?

Thanks in advance for your work on this and for sharing.

Unfortunately, the mobile version of Google Chrome doesn't support extensions (and Google has said that they don't intend on making it do so anytime soon).

Thanks for giving it a go!

Unfortunately, making an extension for Safari is somewhat more difficult than making one for Chrome -- and to compound issues, I don't have access to a Mac. So if this gets really popular, I may create a Safari version, but it won't be in the near future. Sorry about that, but I hope you'll be able to use the Chrome version nonetheless!

Works great, now if only we can change the post per page limit back to 100.

This extension keeps the page count the same. So let's say the author posts 1 post in page 1, you only see that post and have to go to the next page instead of being able to scroll.

Im sure there is nothing you can do about that though, just bringing it up.

There is a 300 page thread that Im looking at that's full of useless posts and this is just great.

I'll look into adding that feature, but I probably won't be adding it unless this ends up getting way more users. I'd have to look ahead to future pages and grab posts from those, which is doable, but complicated.

Glad to hear it's useful for you nonetheless!

What about an option within ADV where people who start a thread can opt to have no replies? Just a fort.

This is awesome. Hopefully word gets upstairs and more people are made aware of this option.

Glad it's helpful for you! The number of users has been steadily (if slowly) going up, so I'm hoping that the word will continue to spread.

Just added a new feature -- you know how sometimes (especially older) threads have formatting issues, like smiley faces everywhere, or strange tags? Or when someone uses a weird color/font/font size and it's hard to read? Now there's a "Fix Formatting" button in ADV+, so you can get rid of those issues. Here it is in action:

    Before reformatting:

    After reformatting:

Or, another example with colors and font size. Before:

    After:

As with toggling the visibility of non-OP posts in a thread, if you use the format fixes on a thread, ADV+ will remember that the next time you come back to the thread and automatically fix the formatting. If you want to disable the format fixes for any reason, just click the "Fix Formatting" button again and refresh the page!

Edit: just realized that as of posting this, the extension probably hasn't updated yet, but your browser will download the updated version within a couple of days at most, and probably a lot sooner.
