I have an update to do.... so are there any more new owners?
We need pictures
Will get some photos tomorrow... new owner of 6056773. At some point to be off with her brother (r80 G/S) to Canada.
Added to list...
bumped for the new guys
I got a side stand from Flying T Pot. I don't use the crash bars that come on the bike, so I was without the attached side stand. I've just installed this side stand. It seems like a pretty good piece of kit. It uses one of the engine studs and the left footrest bolt. It tucks in nicely.
Proud new ST owner! Just picked this bike up on Sunday, took my first ride today, and I'm in love. It's an '84 model, that I guess was manufactured in November of '83.
Added to the list.
Great looking bike too
Hey folks...I have been quiet in this forum for far too long...
But a couple of things...
One, Next summer there is the BMW RA Rally at the Biltmore in Asheville, NC and since I live nearby, I am planning a R80ST event at my place in the mountains, for a bbq, meet and greet and photo session. Any input would be appreciated.
Also, I am the keeper of the R80ST list on Yahoo, which I like to think is the best R80ST resource out there...
However, to be honest, I have strayed this summer. I got a new R1200GS Adventure and the R80ST, while in perfect shape has rarely been ridden. We took the R80ST and the R100GS for an outing in May, got as far as the nearest pay at the pump gas station, when the R100GS with the new rings and valve job had a battery failure. Then the bike sat until last month when it got the yearly service, and just enough miles to flush out the old gas. I have also put some money into my 2005 R1150R Rockster (battery, back tire, yearly service, now fuel disconnects) at probably more than a dollar of parts per mile ridden.
I used to live near Asheville, great area. Keep us posted as next summer draws near, this sounds like a good trip.
I'll keep that in mind. I'm not sure yet what 2013 looks like for rides and vacation time. Hmmmm....
I did the Blue Ridge in May 2012. Really great riding in that area.

The dates of the RA Rally are June 20-23, 2013. Here is the RA home page with some basic information.
I usually go to RA Rallies when they are on the east coast and the MOA annual is on the west coast. The last RA Rally I attended was in Vermont a few years ago and it was a blast.
So the goal is to get all the R80ST folks together for a photo shoot, and perhaps we can talk Tom Cutter, the "father of the R80ST" down for the event. These days Tom is busy racing and running "The Rubber Chicken Racing Garage".
I really like this idea. I have a lot of interest. I hope that I can organize my calendar so that I can make it there. I would love to meet Mr. Cutter. He is a god among men.
But I picked up another ST today, 49k original paint, cases, keys, new master cylinder, Disatanzia's, just needs a tune up.
It does however have a weird stainless exhaust:huh
very nice...the exhaust appear to be hand built and often time a "tuneup" on these involves new valve seats.
My brother bought his ST new in 1984. He has since only run up 17k miles on it since he rides a lot of different bikes. He has decided to sell it due to health reasons. Wish I had the $$$ to buy it. He's asking quite a bit for it as the bike looks as new...no "bro" discount darn it!
Rumuor has it there is a new ST owner in town....
Here are a few pics of my ST....as mentioned a few weeks ago.
