You don't have to have a huge amount of suspension travel and chunky tires to ride the gravel tracks of western NC do you? :ear Course not...

A sunny day dawned on my hometown in NC and it was just great for a ride in the forest tracks, I thought.

What shall I take today? The off road Beemer or the V Strom, both of which I usually take on these roads. Nay! Nay! thought I, too easy on a day like this, dry tracks etc. I'll take the old Norton thought I.:evil

Started first kick after I drained the sump of straight 50 grade oil. Off we went running as sweet as a nut as we entered the National Forest tracks in the Pisgah forest area.

    See enclosed photo. Regards.. Fred:clap

Yes, it is the first year of the slimline featherbed frame...1960.

My 1959 Model 50 has the wideline frame, not quite as comfortable but they both steer great!

Check out the recent photo with my son over from England, taken as we were about to enter the Pisgah Forest on a 1972 honda CY80 and a 2003 Hyosung scooter, both did well on the tracks. The CY has 5.40 inch wide tires as standard! A 5 speed manual gearbox as well!
