General Hand tools, Impact wrench / emergency garage space in Rochester, NY. It's not much, but if someone gets in trouble between Buffalo and Syracuse and can limp here, I'll help how I'm able.

Add me into the pool if you'd like. I have a metal shop right in the heart of Silicon Valley (just south of downtown San Jose, CA). MIG, TIG, plasma cutter, bandsaws, airtools, grinders, sanders, CNC mill, lathe, lotsa other stuff. No motorcycle lift, though. I'd be glad to donate time and tools to someone needing a bike-fix spot, and have already welded on my share of kickstand repairs and frame touch-ups for friends.

Just PM me for contact info if needed.

    Hello All,
I'd like to pitch in and offer up my resources as well. Here's what I've got:

-Pretty decent set of hand and air tools (and air compressor), pretty much anything you would need for most maintenance job you can think of.
-Motorcycle ramp/trailer and pickup truck (I'd be willing to assist any stranded riders for some gas money and a cheeseburger).
-Garage space (I can do some limited storage but I'd like to keep that to a minimum to allow for work space).
-A neighbor who is the Snap-On tool guy. If I don't have it I'll just go across the street and buy or borrow it.

I'm in Nipomo, CA. so anyone in the area that has the need is free to use any of my resources for free (that is unless you're stranded out in the middle of nowhere and you need me to haul your bike away, then some gas dollars are helpful).

I think that this is a great thread and I also think that a google map of all the local help locations would be great.

I'm splitting my cases soon and need a flywheel puller suited for a honda xr/xl600. The one the guy has on here says it's good for a lot of honda's flywheels, but not mine unfortunately. I'd be happy to donate or lend one after I use it if I have to buy it.

Stumbled into the Garage forum last week looking for some info on a throttle body Sinc. I saw the tool pool thread and checked it out, WOW this is a great idea! I started looking and found a sinc tool about 3 mi from the house. Sent a message and the Dust junkie responded immediatly. Hooked up on Sunday and we took care of the sinc in about 15 min.

Just wanted to say thank you again Dust junkie and to Zen Slug & everyone who donates time and tools here!

    See you on the trail

I am looking to borrow a MC type ring compressor for 85 mm pistons.
The automotive type usually wont fit due to interference with the studs.

I know a bunch of guys that work at a machine shop. If their workload can handle it, I might be able to have them fab up a couple of specialty tools if I can get blueprints, or equivilent, to donate to the pool. NotSafe - Got tired of VA drivers, huh? I live in VA Beach, noticed the area code.

How about adding a gear head pool? People who know how to or like to work on bikes their location and knowledge. So whenever people just need an extra hand but not a mechanic they could ask people locally and maybe pay them with gas money, food, beer, etc.

    Contact ZenSlug,
I donated my Doohickey tools to the toolpool. ZenSlug should be able to arrange a set for you to use.

    joe,

yes, please read the instructions in post 2 on page 1 if you would like to borrow one of the tools we have available. please be advised that the borrowers are responsible for making a small donation and also paying one-way shipping charges for the tools.

however, i think there is a regular klr tech day that happens near ramona every so often, wihch could be another place to find a tool set to borrow/use. you might want to post something in the west forum asking when the next one is, or try contacting eaglemike directly:

    racedawg,

thanks for posting that. i have often wondered how much people take advantage of the on-site use tools. i have no way to know since i am not involved in the 'transaction' for those. great to know that at least one person has taken advantage of the service and big thanks to dustjunkie and all the other people who have offered to open their garages to fellow ADVriders in need.:freaky

p.s. reading through the last page i am realizing that i have been neglecting my duties to update the list on page 1. i will try to remedy that sometime this week. thanks to everybody who has made offers of tools/garages recently!:thumb

761, thanks for the replay and donating the tools to the pool:freaky cheers too you!

Zen slug, Since I am a KLR owner and a cheep bastard :D I think I may be able to save a buck using the tool pool, I am aware there are tech days in Julian in the spring time I just need to get the doo done now.

Is there any way to figure what the cost of shipping would be, I really think the pool is a great idea and want to support it.
