Bell's Mansion was a great suggestion and the turnout for Tuesday was significant considering it was 6 days prior to Christmas. There was plenty of seating at the slab, but there was enough attendees to over flow to the high boys against the wall. I had expected that the some of the Holiday Office Parties would be in full swing, but we basically had the place to ourselves. The food was good and the conversation was varied as usual. Individual Holiday plans were shared among the crew in attendance. Some were prepared for gift giving as others were just trying to get that special gift for a family member, but to no avail.

The meeting opened at 8:13 pm with Roll Call and Committee Reports.

    A quorum was available.

History: On this day (December 19th)

1777: Washington arrives at Valley Forge for Winter encampment.

1843: Charles Dickens publishes "A Christmas Carol."

1941: Hitler takes command of the German Army.

Trivia: This is 353th day of the year with 12 days to go.

1984: Britain agrees to return Hong Kong back to China.

1997: The movie Titanic opens in theaters.

1998: President Clinton is impeached by the House for lying under oath and obstructing justice. he was later tried and acquitted by the Senate.

The Ride Schedule for Polar Bear is now posted. Please register if you are so inclined:
http://polarbeargrandtour.com/rides.htm On Holiday until Sunday 1/7/18.

On the Horizon: New Years day brings forth Dale's Chilly Chilli Ride starting at the Ogdensburg Firehouse sponsored by the Blue Knights Chapter IX as well as the Isle of Manhattan Ride in the Big Apple. Pick-em.

Old Business: The future of this outing was discussed with some options for 2018 regarding names, places, and date formats.

New Business: Offerings were discussed and noted regarding new locations for our weekly outing in 2018 which was in concert with proposed changes as previously noted.

The new venue for next week was chosen. It will be revealed on Sunday evening as always.

There being no further business to come before the crew, the meeting was adjourned @ 9:23 pm.

What can I say about Polo's Bar & Grill. Too easy to pass by and be unnoticed with such a small sign out front and a minuscule parking lot. Apparently, this is a local hangout with plenty of seating inside although we had to settle for a high-boy at the edge of the slab. The menu presented with a typical selection, but the entrees were just a little bit pricey and service was lethargic, but still not a bad place to hang out on the last meeting of the year.

Lot's of good conversation during the course of the evening regarding relationships, marriage, divorce, break-ups and great humorous anecdotes regarding such. My preference is to cohabit in a symbiotic relationship tantamount to marriage.

The meeting opened at 8:33 pm with Roll Call and Committee Reports.

The Station was a pleasant surprise since my last visit which was way before the fire of January 2016 where 20 residents were displaced from this 140 year old structure. It was built as the Claremont Hotel back in 1878. The bar area was enlarged with a rectangular slab and the tables occupying one large room. The food was varied from typical pub fare to reasonable entrees and the special was buffalo wings with a pint of Yuengling for 8 bucks. The french dip sandwich was the best I have ever had!

The meeting opened at 8:29 pm with Roll Call and Committee Reports.

    A quorum was not available.

History: On this day (January 3rd)

1496: Leonardo da Vinci unsuccessfully tests a flying machine.

1777: The Battle of Princeton, New Jersey.

1870: Construction begins on Brooklyn Bridge in New York; completed May 24, 1883.

Trivia: This is 3rd day of the year with 362 days to go.

1938: Franklin Roosevelt founds March of Dimes.

1952 : Dragnet TV show debuts.

1959: Alaska admitted into Union as the 49th State.

1967: Jack Ruby dies before second trial.

1987: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducts first woman; Aretha Franklin.

We got a chance to savor Sheridan's this week up on the Lake Iliff just outside of Andover proper. The place was busy with plenty of parking adjacent to the restaurant and across the street. You just had to be quick and vigilant regarding the traffic on CR 669 when crossing. With no room at the slab, we settled for a table between the Pool Hall and Dart Board. The food was good and the beer cold. While we were there, we caught up with a waitress from Bella Italia which remembered us from earlier this year when we were there on "Fat Tuesday." It's a small world indeed.

The meeting opened at 8:30 pm with Roll Call and Committee Reports.

    A quorum was available.

History: On this day (January 10th)

1776: "Common Sense" Pamphlet by Thomas Paine, published advocating American independence.

1870: John D. Rockefeller incorporates Standard Oil.

1901: Oil discovered at Spindletop, Beaumont, marking the start of the Texas oil boom (gusher age)

Trivia: This is 10th day of the year with 355 days to go.

1946: UN General Assembly meets for 1st time in London.

1964: "Introducing the Beatles" released 1st Beatles album released in the US.

    On the Horizon:

The 100th Anniversary of the Crotona Midnight Run is postponed until January 21st.

Old Business: Semi-permanent locations for future venues which would rotate on a monthly basis from Memorial Day through September were proposed. During the other months, we could continue to rotate on a weekly basis as we have done previously. No decision was made and the suggestion will be btabled and brought up at subsequent meetings.

New Business: Lots of discussion ensued regarding plans for trips this year when the weather breaks. A Catskill Weekend along the Delaware, "Camping at Bernies" with outdoor movies, and a few day trips to round out the mix. No matter what, we have to get through this Winter and into the good weather.

The new venue for next week was chosen and will be revealed on Sunday evening.

There being no further business to come before the crew, the meeting was adjourned @ 9:21 pm.

P.S. Our resident cartographer and "Wing Man" will try to deliver his Wing Report every week he is in attendance.

Apparently, Mrs. Riley's does not get lively until after 9 pm when the younger generation gets out of work. There were a few locals at the slab when we arrived, but we basically had the place to ourselves for dinner and drinks. The food was great and the wing report is below. Ms. Tiffany was not present to attend to our needs, but we made do. As mentioned before, this place eats, lives, and breaths Boston Red Sox. I could not imagine what it would be like during a televised Boston/Yankee game.

The meeting opened at 8:35 pm with Roll Call and Committee Reports.

    A quorum was not available.
