how is the aluminum with heat disipation??

I'm wondering what the tanks would feel like on a 100F riding day..

Spray 'm in nice orange or something.Than there should not be so much difference with the ones you have right now. But aluminum reflects (although it's not chrome) some of the heat, so the way Barbasma's bike is right now, the tanks should remain cooler.

Holy dent fest ! Those things would look like hammered rain gutters after a year or so I am afraid. That would be under my use of course. Others may vary I am sure. :lol3 Nice craftsmanship however. And a good price.

those are great looking tanks and a verry good price too! But I'm happy with the stockers, for now.

I'm a good fabricator but I've always wanted to apprentice under someone to learn to build alluminum tanks. To bad it's half way around the world from me!

Thats an Adventure? Looks absolutely awesome...

So the headlight from an EXC and the SM side panels are more or less interchangeable are they?

what else has been done to it (other than the pipes)

hmmm, perhaps i would be better off with an adventure and that kit than a Super Enduro???

I'd rather have dented tanks and get to the end of the ride than have purdy tank and be sitting in the middle of BFE. And dents are a shitload better than cracks.

    Those are very cool.:tb

I'm having trouble justifying a re-valve of my front shocks, let alone buying a new set of aluminium tanks.

Wow, at first glance I wasn't sure either. Everyone has been saying it's just a big dirtbike. Now I believe them.

I want one too! I'm going to start looking for a very used cheap early model 950. I saved the picture, so I'll be :tb over this for awhile!

great minds think alike - let me know if you get one and the steps you take - that thing looks awesome.

In fact, Barbasma - we'd ALL like a little more info on the steps to transform a 950 ADVENTURE into THAT!!! Please???:D

the rear frame of ADV is longer than SM and SE... approx 10cm!!!

so the rear plastic of SM must be cutted... and let the rear fender of ADV...

the most interesting thing is the weight..

the bike in the pics DRY weight 162kg!!!!:evil

    Greetings,
One of my hesitations in purchasing a 950 has been the way the tanks seem to hang out in harm's way. While I've never broken a "plastic" tank in all my years of off-road riding, the idea of aluminum tanks for this application greatly reduces my crash-damage anxiety (rational or not).
