as for the water channel...a dremmel will do the job for ya
It's so tight it's not suggested. I'd be surprised if there's not a groove worn into it.
I thought about studding up some mini bike knobbies, maybe next year.

I'm thinking gravel roads are gonna be a no go unless it gets really warm.
