Still planning on riding at Wayne 10/6 & 7 if anyone is interested! Anyone been there lately? Is it dusty from the heat and lack of rain?

I've heard this and tried it, but it doesn't seem to work on a signal that won't trip.

There's a few youtube vids of people testing it with magnets, they don't seem to work.

The thing that does are the active systems like a Veloloop (designed for a bicycle). There's some for motorcycles too, but I'm too cheap and lazy to invest. I just blow the light and that is more fun to me. I enjoy some mild civil disobedience more than fixing things the right way.

I would be willing to bet that no one on here has ever gotten a ticket for stopping at a red signal and proceeding through with care after it failed to cycle in a reasonable amount of time. If you claim that you have, then please post up with your real name and the county of the violation, and I will dig into the claim (with intent to disprove it).

All the legislation and magnets on the world are no substitute for common sense and the ability to articulate why you are doing something. If the light doesn't cycle then go through it. If you go through that light every day then go a different way to avoid it.

I like to come screeching to a halt sideways, leaving a big patch of rubber right on the sensor line. Doesn't help any, but I feel like a total badass and that's all that really matters, right? :lol3

Not kidding, I can't get to my place in New Albany without going through one of two lights that won't trip for me. Well, I could go about 3 miles out and around and sneak in the back, but that's not happening. Gotta put up with it, but it's almost always at night when I run into an issue (sole vehicle) and traffic is so light I can proceed safely.

I haven't been stopped for it, but I've been stopped for some seriously petty shit so it wouldn't be out of character for my life.

I once got a ticket (in Granville) for 27 in a 25. Yes, seriously, and it got laughed out of Licking Co. court when I contested it out of Mayor's court. Some townies can be petty, life-hating bastards.

To be fair, I have written some pretty bullshit tickets - BUT - they were always "dumbed down" from bigger violations. I used to write people for speed at 5 over if they were speeding at any speed over, so if you were doing 25 over I would write you for 5 to save you the points. I used to write a lot of "no front plate" tickets as well, total bullshit ticket, but I was doing that so as to not write the person for running a stop sign or some other significant moving violation. Kind of a way to still do my job, administer a spanking, but not fuck them on insurance and moving violations fines / points.

If one of those people showed their friends that ticket, I'd look like a real asshole, writing a guy for 5 over or for no front plate. The ticket doesn't necessarily reflect what that person was actually doing though.

So here is my story on stupid tickets. I got pulled over in Utica doing 47 mph in a 35 zone on Blacksnake Road when I thought I was out of the city. When I got home and examined the ticket, the officer had checked the box for DUI and then scribbled it out. Rather than sign the ticket and mail in the check and inadvertently plead guilty to DUI, I went to court to clarify things. The magistrate was a complete tool and was very annoyed when I asked if I was being charged with DUI. He was completely uninterested in why I was asking. With court costs, my total fine was higher than if I had mailed it in, which was very annoying.

It all worked out for me though because when I went to pay the clerk of courts, I told her my story and showed her the screwed up citation. She couldn't do anything about the fine, but told me that she would make sure that the paperwork never made it to the State of Ohio. This kept the whole thing off my driving record.

It was dusty yesterday in Monday Creek and Long Ridge. Lots of leaves down, too. It would be horribly slippery with a little rain and the dust and leaves. Goggle up!

There are reasonable police officers like Meef and un reasonable ones like the one I encountered this summer in North Hampton Ohio. 48 mph in a 35 mph done and a $230 fine

We are in need of rain for gravel/dirt but I am doing a fast back road street ride(Sport Bike Friendly) thru the Hocking region on Saturday. Lots of surface hazards on the asphalt also this time of year. 10:45 Departure (JD Equipt.) On the 33 loop outside of Lancaster (1200 Delmont Rd SW, Lancaster, OH 43130)
    Must have a A-Game.:-)

mpenner, that stretch of road where Blacksnake comes into Utica is a very dangerous area. I can see why he would wait there for offenders...not.

Thanks! I figured it would be dusty with the lack of rain. No rain in the forecast for next week either.

It will be a nice change from the typical mud I've encountered at Pike. Always seem to head over there after remnants of hurricanes pass through...
