Adventure Tank for 990 Adventure

    I have been looking at this tank for my bike, with a 2 into 1 exhaust.

    Does anyone have pictures of this setup installed that they could share??

    And any comments good/bad?

    I also am considering just the 2 into 1, and using a Roto plex type tank attached to the inside of the hard bag racks on the left side where the 2nd muffler was. Anybody try something like that?

    I've been using it and the 2-1 from Ned since 2009 without any issues and alot of satisfaction.

    Included have been shakeout rides to Inuvik from SF, across the Yukon (Campbell, Cassiar, Canol "highways", etc) and a run from Frankfurt to Ulaan Bator across the 'Stans (avoiding tarmac whenever possible).

    I don't think it'll be hard to find plenty of positive comments.

    Do a search for "advtank" and you'll get many pros and cons.

    I got mine this spring and regardless of some quality issues, I've been happy with it. Just don't expect it be a straight bolt on thingy. Do your research before assembly.

    Don't buy the AdvTank 2into1 pipe though, build quality on those is very poor. Unless they have corrected the manufacturing process.

    Thank you very much for the picture. That clears up the interference issue between the top/rear case brace and the gas filler. I would have to do a little cutting and rerouting. And I can see the front mount point to the subframe. Is there an additional mounting point other than the obvious muffler hanger?

    Am I correct that a fuel line is just run forward and T'd into the left side petcock on the original tank?

    I had searched for Adventure Tank previously, getting nothing. Tried AdvTank and found threads on the install and the rack interference. Thanks again.

    I'm a little on the fence about the setup now. I can handle the mounting issues, building a bracket and relocating the brace. But $800 for the 2 into 1 plus the tank, seems like it should buy you a little cleaner setup. And I haven't even read up on their 2 into 1 issues.

    I know and thought the same thing but I tried the roto pax and have not been happy with it. I just put the 2-1 and fmf on and I like it. cooler seat and sounds good. adv tank will be next a few months from now. all my friends are running this set up 2-1 cj welded swap and a pipe of some kind.
    I think the plastic is better than the other I have seen. will take a good hit but needs a brace so it cant hit the tire 908 is a tank killer I hear. B

    Currently I am at 217 miles with no fuel light. Gotta like that....

    2.2 extra gallons and full ADV Remus setup = less weight than original setup with stock boat anchor pipes. I also agree with Bert - the pipe runs cooler now that it doesn't have those crappy heart cloggers on the end.

    Just make SURE you reinforce that long bracket that stabilizes the tank. It is WEAK and bends, allowing your tank to hit the tire under stress. Mine has a custom bracket that bolts to my luggage rack. Ain't no way it's going to bend and hit the rear tire now.

    The way you have fuel line routed inside the frame is wrong. The reason I'm saying that, is I had it the same way, until riding 2 up with ful lugguge I found I ran out of fuel too fast. On a gas station while filling up observed fuel leaking from ADV tank line inside frame. Reason-completly destroed line by chain rub with compressed susupension/ I managed a temporary fix, but routed it outside the frame since then and had ZERO issues in 2 years.
    Also recently I've loast a chain tensioner, and was happy trhat the line was relocated, as the chain messed up a lot of stuff around it, way beyond any normal chain reach.

    I was thinking of getting the storage box version of this tank, CJDesings I think. That way I can use it for storage, or if I need extra fuel, fill one of those fuel bladders and put it in the box. Best of both worlds? Opinions?

    I see nothing wrong with chrish4ku's install. Fuel line is routed on top of the chain roller as it should be. Mine is laying on the roller and I'm fine with it, but only 2k kms with the setup. I wouldn't run it outside the frame, but I'm sure it works just fine too.

    I'd get the tank. It's easier to ad an extra bag for stuff, than a proper storage for fuel.

    The combination of advtank and two into one works great for my bike. I like the lighter load of a single performance can... mine being a Remus Ti, but Wings is a great economical choice... CJDesigns for 2 into 1 connector, has proper flow test. Like others have said, add the lower brace. I'm currently running a "C" clamp off passenger mount.

    200 plus mile range is great for my normal adventure touring. Of course Starbucks coffee bag for emergency fuel bladder.

    You'll be quite happy.

    Would be cool to see a close up of your C clamp bracket for those who do not have luggage racks. I wondered how you would firm that up without racks.

    I only shared my experience)))
    Actually mine was running lower, flat with the bottom passenger peg bracket to ensure complete emptying of the ADV tank.

    Running the line outside the frame, fixed with the robust 10mm plastic ties and resting in the bend above the plastic frame protector has proven itself bulletproof!!!...unfortunately not so much the case with the right hand side main tank line getting burned on the exhaust one day, just because it got one of the plastic clamps around battery case opened and was sitting higher and resting on the exhaust header....almost set the bike on fire

    Of course I stole this setup from another inmate in years past. It secures the lower tank away from the swingarm path... and it uses the passenger frame mount as extra support for the weight of a full tank.

    There is a better bracket I've seen for those who weld, but I've been using this for some time and it solves the advtank from sagging just as well.
