It's an A26P
6033 which appears to date from Jan 1982.
I no longer have records on the VIN of my first one but remember when I traced it back it dated to mid october 1981, built in the first 6 weeks of production. Both bikes are in Wellington New Zealand.
The Givi Looks very similar to mine which is a National Cycle Street shield, nice size. $114.00
England-Kev, I pulled the fairing off today. The only info on it is Acerbis molded into the plastic on the inside. There's three metal brackets that it screws to,instead of the headlight housing. I can take some pics of those if you'd like.
There is a really nice looking 81 R80 with a PD tank for sale here in Vancouver BC. Its at Shail's Motorcycles which is a small shop here in Vancouver that specializes in Airheads. I have no affiliation to the shop just putting it out there in case someone is looking for one. Check it out on Vancouver craigslist or I think Shail's also has a website.
Well that, and you can buy 'em new from the dealer today!
AFAIK it came from Colorado originally.
edit: Wow, Phactory's was the one behind mine off the production line
Any chance you would want to sell the fairing Jeff??????
Not right now, I'm hoping to do some trips on the bike and may want the fairing. I'll keep you in mind if I decide to sell it. I only removed it to see if I could find any numbers on it for this thread.
Just a feeler: I might be selling a NIB orange NOS dual seat for a G/S.
Any interest here?
Sure, I do want and Orange seat myself.. as always it depends on price
So if you buy his orange seat, will you have one for sale?
Sure would..... a black one
Sent ya PM
so I have a TITLE ONLY to G/S 2544
See the story here of how I came to own a non-G/S frame and a legitimate G/S TITLE with the same frame number... now being semi-officially referred to as my G//S .
To make a long story short, if any of you good G/S folks know who or how the bike itself got separated from its title, let me know and I can "sell" you the real title..... It is now titled in Florida, it came from OREGON in 02/85.
I would like to help a legitimate G/S owner if I can! Otherwise, this might be the damnedest G//S you ever seen.........
Hey, it wouldn't be too difficult to weld on a shock mount and modify/remove the old muffler mounts. If a G/S is what you want. Or just build up a dual shock dirt bike. Or whatever...
That would be interesting if there's another bike (or frame) with your VIN.
I'm gonna attempt to post some pics of my '82 GS/Users/jeffbagley/Desktop/th_IMG_0294.jpg/Users/jeffbagley/Desktop/th_IMG_0348.jpg
Cool! It's like finding a long lost brother!! My bike was originally delivered to ABT BMW in Chicago!
