Nice looking bike Dave, but I have a question for you, where do you get those cool heat shields, I have seen them on other bikes, maybe not identical, but close?
And yet another interesting muffler heat-shield. Can we see closeups?
made from thick aluminum plate. Big drill bit, skil saw, grinder, high-temp black paint.
We're in Kyrgyzstan right now making our way to Africa. Here's the preparing the bike thread.
i ran into a guy this weekend who has an 81 for sale. it's a sweet bike, rt tank, corbin seat, bmw bags, acerbis mini fairing. i didn't get the miles but it is a super sweet bike. he's asking 5k and isn't budging. if you're looking for a sweet r80g/s drop me a pm and i can get you guys in touch.
if you have any intentions of offerring less than his asking price don't bother asking for his info.
1984, last four digits: 3040. I still find myself going into the garage just to look at it sometimes. Does that mean there is something wrong with me?
the guy that restored it for me in Phoenix, AZ made that heatshield. I could ask if he would be interested in making more, if you like.
a better photo too, if you want it.
I could fit one into my luggage!
+1 since my stock side panel is warped...
One question would be whether it would work with stock muffler. It looks like you have round pipe running behind it (?).
my apologies if this has been reported already. do I need a G/S to go with my ST?
Of course you need that G/S, then join the fun here with #2406.
looks like its outside of Denver, anyone close that could take a look at it?
