I decided to try to make the VBR this year. I was delayed for my planned Thursday launch but made it out Friday.

The day started out with heavy fog.

Here is the Strom loaded and ready for action with fresh oil and a snug chain.

After riding in fog all the way to the MN border I headed on past the cities.

Just South of Duluth I was navigating traffic at a brisk pace when I saw a rider in my mirror that was gaining on me. We ended up flowing along together for some time and I have to say I really enjoyed the company. He rides very well and we met up later at the rally. I really like those Super Tens and it looked like he was having fun. He is a lurker here so he can chime in with his info if he wants.

Once registered I had a look around to find a tent site.

Here is the view from my tent.

The roving violinist complete with umbrella girl.

[IMG][/IMG]

serious riders were in abundance.

[IMG][/IMG]

And the experts were about...

I met some really nice folks. Clearly this rally draws motorcycle enthusiast who just love to ride and appreciate all brands and styles. The award for furthest traveled went to a man from Honolulu who had ridden from Cali. I saw several states represented, Florida, Kansas, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Montana, Washington, Arkansas and I am sure many others.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

and one volkswagon with a big eyelash.

They were a nice couple.. I talked to them on Friday night for a while.. Good folks!!

And that's me with my back to you, just behind the bike.. I was chatting with another group who were hitting me up for info on my R12GS.. They both rode R11GS's and the wife rode a 400 Bandit.. From Central MN, they were a fun group of people.. Actually, I met up with a lot of really great people!!

Nice event, and nobody yelled at me for being too loud.. :lol3
Well, almost nobody..

TALLGUY wish I had met you, but you have a picture of my KLR and camp the blue KLR from CT with the cup holder and radio, homemade milkbox panniers with custom rod holders and the ADV stickers. I was present for VBR II and III hope to see you at IV or on the road before:freaky and share a cold one.

Thanks for the photo TALLGUY, I'm not sure if I talked with you but I did talk to a lot of people. I was surprised that I had the only Tex there. I had a great time, met lots of great people and looking forward to VBR IV.

This is one of the best rallys around. Andy Goldfind and Aerosticth are just a class act all around. I went in 2008 and it was a real hoot. Andy out did himself once again. I did get a few minutes to chat with him and thank him for putting on such an event at a low cost 67.00.

I will hold my weekends open in August of 2018 :clap
