Losing my mind over this report. Just excellent. Love the writing and your ability to enlighten and entertain. One of the best Africa ride reports in existence. Please don't leave us hanging too long. Looking forward to hearing the more of your travels to Cape Town. Thank goodness you decided to put the effort in to do a write up on a trip from 10 years previous. As entertaining and as relevant as if it was in real time!
Thank you all for kind words! @tan: thank you very much, but I have to admit that I'm a bit jealous of you ability to mingle with locals and getting invited in by many - which makes for richer experience from travelling. I have this dumb-ass independence streak, where I don't want to inconvenience others by using their time/hospitality. But I'm working on it...
Fantastic reading, especially the bit about the DR Congo. I have been looking at some gold properties near Bukavo and to the South along lake Tanganyika. Seems there are a lot of road that way to be ridden. Ride safe and look forward to your return.
Martin, thank you for letting me use your images in my blog on the downside to Big ADVs (http://theperfectline.kinja.com/this-is-not-the-bike-you-are-looking-for-a-case-agains-1752109020). Hope to see more on this RR in 2016!
Xpat, I'll second Benwr's statement. This is one of the best ride reports here and it would be great to read the rest of it. Cheers and happy new year! NK
Thank you. I know I'm late on this one - I've been busy at work and have just returned from a trip to Mozambique and Zimbabwe, so have to first report that one. But I will finish this one eventually, just cannot commit to a deadline. Maybe you can in the meantime check the other reports linked in my signature. Thanks again for support.
Wow, awesome trip report. Having just found this yesterday and reading it all through I can't wait for more. Thanks for writing this up and sharing Xpat
Just spotted this after an absence from Ride Reports, XPAT. This looks as excellent as the 2nd Christmas ride report you did ( will still read the first!). The pictures are extraordinary and some I've never seen the likes of. A rich, exceptional report, much appreciated.
One of the best reports ever. I especially enjoyed the the desert pictures down the middle east. Thanks for taking the time to post!
This outstanding report deserves to be appreciated by many more inmates! Superb ride, report and pics! Thanks for taking the time to post such elaborate commentary and excellent photos, especially of Syria, which is now mostly rubble.
Totally agree. Funny how the best reports seem to get missed by so many. Not to worry. I'm just glad I found it
Well, thank you very much! I still have to finish this one as I'm only half way through. Will look into it in next few months - right now I'm busy preparing report from my last ride which hopefully should be up here in a week or two.
