just wondering if anyone has experience using aftermarket exhausts (like akropovic for example) on really long trips(like over 50,000 kms) ? More specificaly, when it comes time to repack to little buggers. How much of hassle is it? How hard is it to get the repacking material? let say in third word countries?

Normaly I'd not concider an item that add's maintenance, but if letting the engine breath better can make it less prone to detonation, could be a worthwhile thing. Maybe...

More air means a leaner mixture making detonation more likely.

Why not leave the muffler alone and richen the mixture?

obviously, i'd need to adjust the carb accordingly.

The mod, and I ain't no expert on carbs, was suggested to me by a dude who has a lot of experience setting up lc4's, and he very highly recomended letting more air in and ajusting the carb to be fatter to compensate for the shit gas the engine will be guzzling in some parts of ther world.

could be wrong, but since other than basic carb theory I know squat, so I'm listing very carefully to what those who do know are saying.

But your point is valid and I'll dig depper into just why he thinks it would help.

    thanks
