If you crash hard enough on the right sometimes the left peg will fold up....
Got the Pivot Pegz in yesterday (actually my wife gave them to me ), and installed them. Big difference (much better) standing. A note: The right peg feels like it has quite a bit more lateral slack / movement on the original pin after install. The left feels more solid. Is it just me?

Ran them on my 1150GS and now on the little 800GS
Worked well for me from Big Bend to Engineer Pass as well as on the road.
If they made em for my SV650 I'd buy em!
I know it's a BMW, but anybody got a lead on something that might just space these pegs down an inch or two? Like a $10 piece of metal someone's selling for $20? I could use that, but I'll keep dealing with cramped knees short of spending $60 a piece to ease them. Cripes my first dirtbike costed less than these pegs.

You have any problems with ground clearance? Dragging in turns on twisty hardtop, or grabbing rocks on the trails.
It's fine on the roads - I've dug into a few turns pretty hard with no problems.
As for off-road, I'm waiting on my Woody's rear (have the front) and my suspension upgrades before really getting into the sh!t. The dealer did 'warn' me that they may pose a problem for off-road. Then again, I don't think it'll be anything a little more throttle can't fix And I ride off-road pretty hard and technical - not really worried about it - the pro's out weigh the cons thus far.
Thanks Lounge. I am putting the 20mm bar risers on today. May use them for a few rides, then see if the 2" is needed. Their other set lowers 1", which is way more than any other brand. Most I saw was 15mm (1/2").
My Scotts brought the bars up 20 and the pegs dropped my feet 2" - I'll be looking for new cables before adding the Rox offset risers on top of the Scotts. At 6'4" I want the ergos to be right.
Rode a standard set-up KTM 520 for years and on some gnarly Moab technical stuff - Jacks, poison spyder, Hells gate, fins and things, porcupine ridge, lions back, slick rock, etc. The F8 is similar in the fact that it is built for a taller rider but I want to change a few things on the BMW since it's not so 'dirt' oriented.
Really looking forward to changing the ergos of the F8 and getting it into some nasty places... of course with a set of Woody's, Traxxion fork guts, and a new rear shock - just for insurance... okay, I admit, the bling factor is cool too. But the ultimate goal is to fit my frame and riding style and I think the Pring' pegs are a good start.

I got out on some single track with the 20mm risers. Helped quite a bit.
You think those Pre Eng pegs you got really lowered by 2"? They claim their regular pegs lower 1". Wondering if they exaggerated a bit.
The risers are the Rox offset risers and I was thinking of using the offset to move them back (towards me) as well as up a hair (when you offset the fore/aft it doesn't raise the bars as far up). I'll have to wait and see about twist but I'm not too worried about it.
Re: pegs, without measuring, they do look lower than one inch and have a nice big foot patch. Either way I'm pretty happy with the set-up so far.
Got the pivot pegs installed a few weeks ago. Very nice. One thing though,,,the stock shifter is not going to work if you use any kind of heavy duty riding boots. The shifter is just too close to the new pegs, and it's too hard to get the boot under the shifter. A TT adjustable/foldable shifter solved this problem nicely. So far I am very satisfied with the pegs.
take your shifter off and rotate it up one notch. that should do it.
try that before deciding on the TT shifter.
if you rotate it 1 spline it hits. TT shifter is in the correct position and has a folding tip
if you mean hits the casing if you crash, then yes. that is a good point.
one way to deal with that is to put a rubber backer on the shifter so if it does hit it doesn't damage the casing.... that's if you like the shifter position and don't want to go with the TT.
If you do that though, the shifter will sit too high (above the peg level),,well too high for me anyway. The spline is coarse enough to move the lever quite a bit when you move it up a tooth.
It ends up boiling down to personal preference... it's a little high for me when street riding but i'm used to it. but when i'm off road in my super stiff BMW GS boots it's just right.
But yes I agree, even one notch on the spline it quite a bit of distance change.
I almost wanted to give up on the pivot pegz but figured i'd give them a shot for a while and see if I could adjust my style and see if it worked. The fastaway pegs seemed like a great alternative too, not to mention the roc stompaz (spelling?).
I think part of the GS thing is adjusting the bike for personal preference or adjusting your style to the bike. I find too many people don't do that and just bitch and moan instead (don't mean you but they're out there). Not to say that I haven't done my fair share of bitching and moaning!! ... and just got off the phone with my BMW service manager dude and he agrees that BMW cheaped out on lots of stuff for the GSs to maintain price point (battery just crapped out).
Plus 1 for Fastway.... I got a set... love um! I dont like the idea of a pivot peg...I like using my feet for feedback of the bikes angle... plus I dont do much hill climbing ... mostly just gravel road riding for me...

we got Fastway pegs but have not installed them yet...they look wide and sturdy!
