Yes. The fit and the inside are different I read. I also read that the FX runs larger and the Trekker is true fit,
that's why I had to return the medium FX and the large Trekker was a perfect fit (for me).

Ive had my FX-39 for a few months now, for me it was true to size, and the fit is great, its been a great helmet, but for really hot days, i prefer my open face mx style helmet.

Good news, the AFX fits me great in a Large ( I wear XL in Shoei)

As I had mentioned before, large was too snug in the Trekker, and XL had too much play, so glad it worked out, as obviously ordering a helmet online with out having tried it on in person first is a gamble.

Any updates on the outer visor and chin curtain availability?

How much do the fx-39s loosen up when they 'break in' ? I tried a large and an x-large on today, and I think the large is a little too small,,,the fit is quite snug.. the xl though fits well, but just a bit on the big side, I'm concerned that it may get too loose after wear.

Also, are different size cheek pads available ?

They loosen up more than most helmets. Considering both are within the same shell size, I wonder if the large is not the better choice.

Cheek pads were out of stock, but are available again.

Finally, we are a little heavy on Silver FX-39s, temporarily dropped the price on them to $97:

Other colors are excluded from this.

Having actually wore the Large FX-39 around town yesterday, I was pleased with it.

Look forward to the cheek pads breaking in, and certainly better ventilation that my old helmet, but also a little louder, which makes sense.

Not a huge fan of the visor, optics are ok though, maybe has to do with switching from a light fogged to a clear visor.

Also, chin strap is a bit close to my throat, if I snug it up, will jam me in the neck if I look down.

So i'll have to figure out the best way to make the strap comfortable...

After much customer feedback and cajoling from retailers, AFX has started shipping replacement shields with / including the replacement pivot kits. Our shipments will reflect this going forward.

Maybe I missed it, or maybe because I just ordered mine yesterday, but why the shield and pivot kit replacement?

Sorry, should have explained better...when you buy a tinted or replacement clear shield, they now come with pivot kits included. Previously it was just the shield.

I was looking to pick one of these up sadly no brick and mortar near me has them to try on.

My noggin is about 22 3/4 inches which converts to 57.8 cm. Looking at the sizing chart it looks like I fall between medium and small. Any suggestions?

if you can't find the afx 39, they fit the same as the FLY trekker helmet. Just bought the fx39 off ebay for $105 and love it. Ventilation is great, light weight, little nosy but really not bad, slight glare/reflection but not enough to bother me (only see it when i look for it). Better refrence on sizing, i wear an hjc 2xl, scorpion xl, and afc/fly xl.

The fit is not the same.

I fit a large Trekker pretty well, while a large AFX-39 has my head swimming in it and a medium AFX-39 is a bit more snug than ideal.

I like both versions (it is the same shell), and I prefer some of the touches on the AFX-39 (breath guard and ratcheting chin strap, in particular), but the fit is different between the two renditions of the helmet.

You got that right.. here's my review with photos:
    http://www.basherdesigns.com/2012/04/03/ds-helmets-afx-vs-fly/

It's great we have a wide choice of options here with the AFX & Fly to fit all the different size/shaped noggins! :D

Shortly, I'll have a follow up review of my Fly from my 1000+ mile trip with BigDog...so far .. me likey :deal

There may be a small differnence in the cheak pads, but size wise, I tried on an xl trekker and it fits the same way as the
    fx-39 i just bought.

I usually wear large but I read here that the FX-39 is too large and going with medium switches to the smaller shell size and the nose hits the front...that's why I went with the true in size large Trekker and I'm very happy with the fit.

Yea BP has said the size break is in the helmet mold between the AFX medium and AFX large. From what I understand the XL in either are the same mold. Unlike the AFX med vs Fly large.

Im sure he could explain it exactly.

I think I will go with the small to be safe. My HJC is a medium and now that the padding has compressed a bit it isn't as tight as it used to be.
