Airhead lifters?

    That cam certainly had some flakeage but I had never seen one get that bad before it was looked into. I have only seen I think three cams go bad on airheads and one of those was on my own bike. I think BMW's have damn good cams. I have worked on other brands a lot less and seen a lot more of them suffer cam wear than I have BMW's.

    Coastranger, I didn't read Anton saying anything about how they hold up. I was going to ask him if he has revisited any of them yet and, if he had, how they are holding up?

    It's not something I have done often, and I've had no need to go into those bikes again. Figure a top-end reseal is once every ten or more years, so it's not like I have a chance to check.

    Yes, Dan said that he does resurface post-/2 lifters but the waiting period can take some time now (he doesn't have any to exchange at this time).

    Re the carnage: wow. Did the engine seize?
