Easy find. Just off the road on a bluff overlooking Bloomington and the Virgin River. Near a water tank. Could make the short walk from pavement if not on an ADV bike.

How cool is that? The first find. I hope more still exist and can be found.

This is pretty interesting. I did some web surfing and found this map that shows current or previous locations of some of the arrows.
There is one near my house in Virginia but it apparently no longer exists.

RRR there are some more around St George

OK, I found some more info with a list of the arrows. Clicking the links on the left side of the list at the bottom of the page will open a page at NOAA with GPS coordinates.

Wow. That's some good stuff there. Some of these locations are close enough to me to check out in the not cold winter months! :clap

That's a brilliant find, just what I was looking for! I've already marked several of them to fly around next year.
    Thanks

I had great hopes that this thread would gather some interest and folks would find more of the old arrows or maybe just their locations. I don't think there's anything near me.

This arrow is located about 6 miles east of Golconda, Nv at Golconda Summit. This is about 25 miles east of Winnamucca, Nv. You access the site via exit #200 on I80 and take the dirt road to the hilltop. GPS coordinates N40 55 30.30 W117 23 53.17 We visited the site on 8-29-14 while riding the western portion of the TAT. Thanks to Steve aka Loose Nut for planning the stop at this historic site.

After reviewing a number of the sites described on this link I believe what you have is a listing of more modern towers and rotating light beacons. I could not find any reference to the older lighted arrows at this site. The only site listed in Humboldt County Nevada is at the Winnemucca Municipal Airport and was a rotating beacon. Now I've been wrong before--let me know if I am again.
Well, I've proved myself wrong again. Looking at more of the locations listed by this site does show that they really are the arrow sites. Seems the tower and the rotating beacon were positioned on top of the concrete arrow and included a generator shack nearby. Lesson learned--research first then shoot from the hip.

In Australia the name of the place is simply painted on the roof ... using a compass is desirable... along with a map. It can be an hour or two to the next place. Could always land and ask...
