What it is: The is an annual rally, open to everyone interested in riding in Latin America -- both those who have already done it and those who think they might want to (anyone who has never ridden in LA should be in this category). We get together to discuss past and future rides in Latin America, eat some great food and drink some great drinks. We also manage to get in a little riding, both on and off road. It doesn't matter what kind of a bike you have, or even if you currently are bikeless. Come and enjoy!

    DATES: August 25-29

PLACE: Sipapu Ski & Summer Resort - 25 miles southeast of Taos on NM 518

COST: $25 (Can be sent to my PayPal address anytime: nataharli at gmail dot com)

Additional costs: $15 plus tip and drinks for Saturday dinner

    • 30 campsites will be available.
    • Restrooms are on site.
    • The river will be available for "showers".
    • Total cost for camping will be $25 per person whether you stay one night or all 4 nights.
    • We will have a gourmet, catered dinner served on the patio next to the river on Saturday evening.
We assume you will be camping. If not, please indicate so. In addition to camping you will have the following logding options:

    • Apartments (sleep 2-12)
    • Bunk rooms (sleep 2-4)
    • Cabins (sleep 2)
    • Duplexes (sleep 2-6)
    • Lodge rooms (sleep 4-6)
    • Motel rooms (sleep 2-4)
    • Suites (sleep 4-6)
If you plan on staying in one of the above it is your responsibility to contact the resort and make reservations. Further lodging info can be found here: http://www.sipapunm.com/index.php?option=com_lodge_management&Itemid=2

    After the rally:
It is a Latin American Riders' Rallye after all so plan on riding into Latin America after the rallye. The plan is to do a Copper Canyon ride which should take 4-5 days then head into Zacatecas for a few days of experiencing Latin American culture. Most (none?) of us won't be on Harleys so we will be riding in groups of 3-4 not 100. That's my plan, anyway, you can pair up with as many as you like. We will just plan on meeting in Batopilas on a certain date so you can get there with as many of your friends as you like. Spend a day in Batopilas then head to Zacatecas.

    WAITING LIST:

Past rallies and links to the rally threads:

Our 1st rally was simply called "Latin America Riders Rally".
    Latin American Riders Rally

The first rally was so much fun we decided to have another one. Not having thought through the naming of our rally we had to come up with a name for the 2nd year and we went with SALARR - Second Annual Latin American Riders' Rally.
Second Annual Latin American Riders' Rally

Still not having learned our lesson on naming our rally we had to come up with a name for the 3rd year's rally. TALARR came to mind but then when the 4th and 5th years rolled around FALARR wouldn't work for both of them. Back to the drawing board we came up with ALARR III - Annual Latin American Riders' Rallye (3rd year). Now we can continue with the Latin numbering convention just like the Super Bowl (although this is a hell of a lot more fun than a Super Bowl party).

I'm not interested. I hate right-wingers, and I'm sick of hypocrites and wannabes.

I'd be cool with a meeting of actual SOB riders.

Late August is when my mare is peaking. I still have a chance to make it to London next year. If I don't make it, I'll fail without excuses.

Personally, I would love for an excuse to ride in New England. +1

Sounds like if we schedule it for late August or early September we might get 2 "master" riders (or if we schedule some fishing, 2 "master" baiters) to attend -- Crashmaster and Throttle"master". +2

I turn 70 in August and am looking for an excuse to ride for a month or so around that date. I've always wanted to ride the "N"s .. Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, New Brunswick, and New Hampshire. +3

Jon pronounces his name "Thraaatilmaahsta, y'all." Vinnie's been gone so long he can only speak portuñol, so I don't know how he says his name anymore.

My suggestion was based on WestFest07 which was great at the Sipapu ski resort. http://www.sipapunm.com/
They have camping and even cabins. (no little green men:evil) The riding in the area was fantastic for every kind of bike.

I've established a FB page for ALARR IV. See if you can find it (I'm not an avid user of FB).

In Panama I have access to a beach near San Blas. It has everything we'd need.

I'd love to host it in NH. On the other hand... I don't have any land and NH is just about as far away from Latin America as you can get in the continental US. :hmmmmm

Although, I'll be there - wherever it is! Thanks, Ken, for your effort in getting the ball rolling. :thumb

Unfortunately, we have a provision in our official bylaws :deal that states one of the reasons for holding the rally is to allow those who have never ridden in Latin America to attend and pick our feeble brains.

So, if we held it in Latin America, we really wouldn't be able to abide by that bylaw. :evil

The official Rally Campground Search Committee appreciates your offer. However, I think we're leaning towards New Mexico around mid-August with an option to actually continue the rally by riding down into Old Mexico afterwards. It would be a long ride from NH! :evil Doable, but long.

But, we're all glad you will be there no matter where we are!

If worse comes to worse I can host in Oklahoma at the Quonset hut, plenty of camping spots and nice place and near some decent riding, close to really fantastic riding in Arkansas and a very long day ride to the Mexican border:lol3

Will need to be in Mid to late Aug or early Sept thou that is if I make it out of SA alive:deal
